ONR as QD Question???

I just got in a bottle of ONR today. I figured it would be a cheap way to mix up gallons of "Spray and Wipe" QD (6oz to a gallon as the directions say).

I mixed up some tonight and gave it a try. I felt like I was spraying light blue water on my car. It even beaded and ran down the side of the car.

Is this how it's supposed to be? Is it doing anything different than spraying streight water on the paint?

The car was only lightly dusty and maybe a little haze of road grime from driving it once since I last QD'd it.

The car did clean up well but I'm not sure if spraying water on and wiping it on wouldn't have done the same thing. It sure wasn't the same "feeling" as using Poorboy's Spray and Wipe.

Have you washed with ONR? were you expecting suds? I'm not sure what your question is.

Most all QD's and S/W's I have used are rather thin, but they do have somewhat of a "slick" feel to them when wiping, even PB S/W has that slick feel to it.

I have not and don't plan on using ONR as a wash. We have no water restrictions here in central Alabama nor do we have very cold temps that often so washing the "normal" way isn't a problem.

But, my car is hardly ever driven in the rain (only two times in its life) so I don't have to do a full wash that often, maybe once a month. I usually do a QD of some sort but have always worried about marring when using normal QD's such as QuickShine, PB S/G, and so on. So I picked up some PB S/W and was really impressed with how well it did but as much as I use I thought I would look for something cheaper...like ONR which has directions for using it as a QD.

But, to me, it doesn't have that same "slick" feeling PB spray and wipe has so I had a concern about how well it protects against marring and though I would ask others their thoughts about using ONR as a QD.

Once you get the technique down, you will be amazed at how much time you save washing with ONR vs conventionally.

Since ONR is formulated to encapsulate dirt and protect the paint from marring when used as a rinseless wash, it should also be safe when used as a QD. Especially considering that the QD dillution is much more concentrated than the wash dillution.

Thanks for the reassurance. I did my wife's car which was a little dustier and it seems to do fine with it also.

Now if it only had the scent of strawberries it would be just right ;-)

Thanks
