ONR and Collinite 845

I remember seeing a post where someone said ONR was having an adverse effect on the durability of their 845 application, but can't seem to find the thread. Does anyone have any experience with these two used together?

Not that particularly combo - no. But I've used several rinseless washes with 915 and I don't believe it was affected.

I have experience with this matter.

With the older version of ONR, I noticed that the durability of #845 degraded drasticly quicker than normal. I have not tried this with the newest version of ONR however. I have been told that it is no longer an issue.

I had that same experience and have also heard the same thing.

Do you have any experience with the new formula?

Sounds like I am safe doing ONR washes and toping with OCW, right?

I use collinite as my main wax/sealant and that is all that is currently on the car.

What changed? the ONR or the 845? I just brought a bottle of 845 & I have some older version of the ONR. I guess I won't use the two

It is the ONR that has been updated. From my understanding there have been 4 version of ONR even though most people call the latest version v3.

I have the ONR 2012 version on order thanks to the 20% off sale. I'll use the old formula before I wax and the new formula after, up until the next detail.

This was a very timely thread!

It just so happens that I have not used ONR on the Charger since I put Collinite on it, so I have not noticed the problem myself. But things have changed this winter and I will be using ONR more frequently, so this topic got my attention. But that IS a good question, particularly if ONR with wax is used!

If you are using ONR frequently, how are you noticing a degradation of the Collinite?

I had the beading and dirt / water shedding degrade very quickly. I originally figured it was bonded contamination or something of the sort, but used a regular car wash (Megs Hyper I believe) to do a standard wash and verify everything. The paint was clean and smooth but the beading and sheeting was nearly gone. after 1.5-2 months. So I re-prepped and redid the application of #845 and then only used regular car wash for the rest of the winter. Doing this #845 easily lasted the 4+ months of remaining winter.

After this experience I sought out and asked other that had used ONR + #845 and it was confirmed that I was not the only one that had had this strange occurrence.

This is all very interesting... Ordered some OCW to use after my ONR washes to keep everything in good shape. Hopefully the collinite holds up because I do like the protection and the "brightness" that it brings.
