Online Tire Retailer

I found this link, it has an interesting comparison of Zaino, Mequiars, and a couple of varieties of Zymol including NSX. If this has been posted here before I haven't seen it so I'm sure some will find it useful.

Hey guys, I'm currently looking for tires for my XC90 Sport, 255/50/19's. I have used the regulars, Tire Rack and Discount Tire Direct, but I was wondering if there is someone else out there who may not be a big name but has good prices and a good selection.

Thanks guys and gals!

Thanks Bill, I'll check them out.

Man, there just aren't a lot of options in this size, only a handful on every site. I have a feeling local shops are going to be even worse.

Hate to bum you out but 19"s are really a off shoot size and tires are not cheap (ever) for them. I would keep looking online, you are bound to pay less than a local shop even with shipping them. Keep in mind a local shop wont have them in and most likely charge you to have them shipped in. I don't really know of a good retailer online although have heard decent/good reviews from the ones bill listed.

Hope this help.

I generally use Tirerack to find the brand and specs that I like, then find it locally. They, however, do not carry all of the brands.

Yeah, I know there aren't going to be many options and I definitely know they aren't going to be "cheap". I just thought there might be some options out there I didn't know of.

Thanks again everyone.

whats the depth on the rims, and how much room do you have to go up (sidewall height)?

Thinking maybe a different size will save some cash here or there

That is a good idea too. We had 225/60/18 on our car, but could have picked a few sizes between that and 255/55/18. I would look into that as well!

I'm working on finding out what else will fit. I think I might be able to get tires that a bit taller, but not sure if I can get them much wider and I don't really want to get them any narrower. I'll see what I can come up with, that might help out a bit, I hope so anyway. Although the Continentals I'm looking at aren't horrible at $178 each, in comparison to a nice Michelin at $330 each :w00t:

I feel your pain. My Nitto's aren't cheap and they don't even last as long as a "standard" tire. I will say this though, I will never skimp on tires, especially for any car I own built to go fast. I learned my lesson the hard way and although it wasn't necessarily the tires fault, it still sucked to know it was part of the problem.

I just couldn't fathom pushing 400 whp and 500+ ftpds torque and decide to skimp on the tires. /end rant

Good luck with finding some tires.

Thanks and I agree, skimping on tires is not something I like to do. I can't really afford to drop $2K on a set of tires, but I'm also not running to k-mart to find the cheapest off-brand tire to slap on it either (no offense to k-mart supporters, just the first store I thought of). Especially since this is the wife's car and we haul two wonderful kids around in it all the time. I know it's a Volvo and they are nutty about safety, but I would hate for something to happen that is caused by cheap tires and knowing I could have prevented it.

I'm pretty anal about keeping tires on my vehicles with a lot of tread, I guess I learned that from my dad, who has the nickname "The Tire Nazi".

275/45/19 are almost the exact same size. Only issue would be width rubbing. On our car, 3 sizes up works perfect, but you would have to check on forums with your particular vehicle and ask that question or search. We have these General Grabber UHPs, they are quiet, grip awesome, and look sweet. $195 is tireracks cost, and our local discount tire could get the UHP for the same price. I'll visit this thread later, I might have a few solutions.

*also, is this a stock wheel? If not, what are the dimension it?*

Those look like awesome summer tires, love the look as well. However, I need to go with an all season tire as I don't run specific summer/winter tires/wheels.

I'm still digging into what I can and can't run on this vehicle.

We will be running them in some winter conditions. Friends that have them have loved them in the winter/wet. I know they aren't designed for snow, but they have been known to perform well, and that is considering we put these on a RWD car with 400hp/400tq too.

Just an FYI, I have decided to keep two tires that aren't all that bad and only replace two this time around. I like the tires that are on it (Pirelli Scorpion Zero Assimetrico), I just had them over inflated and they cupped really bad. I also had it aligned, just to rule that out as well.

Anyway, I ended up buying them from a place I had not found before, Discount Tires 2Go dot com.

Here is the breakdown of prices for this tire, 255/50/19:

Discount Tires 2Go: $168 each, $30 shipping
Tire Rack: $249 each, $45 shipping
Discount Tire Direct: Not available
1010tires: $288 each, $71 shipping
Victoria Tire: $232 each, $58 shipping

There you go, thanks for the suggestions, and hopefully when you're looking for your next tires, you now have a few more online ordering options.

Thanks guys!
