One Of The Worst I've Done

Beemerboy

Just One More Coat
Buddy of mine bough this car for his daughter and she trashed the car, on the inside primarily. I did this one as a favor for him, mind you not FREE but at a decent price.

It took me about 10 hours total over 3 days.

The rugs in the front driver side had caked on dirt with coffee stains and who knows what else, I did the best I could but they are stain beyond getting back to gray. Seats in some areas had light stains but over all came out OK

The car was painted not long back so that popped back up to speed...looks good here but its a cheap job with lots or orange peel

I did the whole car motor and all

Man I don't understand how people can stand to ride in something like that.

Nice job of doing what you could, I'm sure they will be happy with the results it is light years better than it was.

You should have done like that lady in the pink pants in a video on another recent thread and just power wash the inside and outside of the car. I have never met a girl that would drive something that dirty. Nice job of trying.

Looks like my average detail here in KS - LOL. No really that thing was trashed only for a buddy! you probably had to use a wire brush on the carpets.

People are nasty. Some of the worst regular cars I've done were driven by women. It always amazes me how a person can watch their vehicals get worse and worse and not pay much mind to it. I guess they just get used to it. Nice work man.

In talking to Steve at PB this morning, he was saying what he would do on carpets like this. He said to get hot tap water and use that with APC..I took a 4 quart pot and brought the water to near boil, and with PB APC almost straight went at it.

Remarkable more dirt and what I think is coffee drinks stains, had a some what chocolate smell coming up.

Here are the results, have to say thanks to Steve for his suggestion this worked remarkably much better

The condition was unspeakable. The improvement is remarkable.
Has anyone tried dyeing carpet for an over-the-top case like this?

There are lots of companies that will do that for residential carpets. What about cars?

How would you go about doing this?

**Before introducing water to carpet**

*Vacuum

*Dry scrub with stiff brush

*Vacuum

*Blow with Compressed Air & Leaf Blower

*Pre-treat stains:
Solvent 1st (brush)
Enzyme 2nd (brush)
APC 3rd (brush)

*Towel lift damp residue (cotton)

*Blast each 1/4 section with Pressure Washer
immediately vacuum standing puddle
Vacuum again slowly
Repeat as necessary

*Shampoo & scrubb(by section) with dedicated foaming carpet shampoo

*Vacuum slowly

*Towel dry(cotton)

*Once dry (forced cool air), use damp towel to lift dye back & fluff with leaf blower

Here's some similar type cleanings techniques:

David...thanks

Can you explain what solvent and enzyme that you are using?

99.9% of the time I have no problems with cleaning carpet or mats this one was WAY over the top for any car that I had done in resent memory

For interiors I still like resorting back to my old school days of Auto Magic.

I specifically like their Multi-Purpose Solvent / Enzyme Pre-Spot / E-Z Clean Shampoo

I dye carpet at least once a week at work. For alot of detailers, especially dealerships, its one of those things that most do it but none talk about it. For the disgusting nightmares that I deal with at work its not uncommon to strip an interior down to bare metal, hang every interior panel up, and dye everything. The worst part about dye is finding the right color. Without a color chart your just guessing, and the color on the cap is never the color that comes out. With trucks, Chevy and Ford are almost always the same color combos and there is dyes out there that match dead on. When you start getting into foreign cars or really late model stuff theres a good chance the color wont match exacally and your gonna have to dye the entire carpet or panel in order for it to look factory again. Its never the best option in any case, but its still an option. :bigups
