One nasty truck

Hey in the third photo, you missed a spot. :D

Freakin' awesome bro. Nice work. Maybe all his contrator friends will send some work your way now...........(a curse or a blessing)

Looks like with all the Georgia clay in that truck he could have started a farm.
Have often heard of how Georgia clay dirt is a very fine dust when dried. You did a wonderful job cleaning up that interior.

The exterior is nice. The wheel wells were really looking good.
Keep up the good work. I hope you get a lot of referals from this job.

You just made that guy $1,500.00 on his resale. Great job. I hope you charged him enough. To get a job like that, a customer should pay big.

He said it took him 15 hours to get it in that shape. Thats one of those jobs you would probably short yourself on the charge if you just go by a standard price. If I went by an hour rate of $35 that would have cost him $525 which sounds like a lot and is a lot. Its always hard to price cars that are in that bad of shape. If you charge $225 and it takes you 15 hours you would only be making $15 an hour. After doing a few cars in that bad of shape I've learned to tell the customer that it could take up to two days to get it back in shape. From my experiance people who let their cars get in that shape could care less about bringing them back and if they do they don't want to pay that much for the work. I guess it all depends on how bad someone would need the work and how much the customer would be willing to pay.

I would agree with that, but I think it also depends on what products and tools you have at your disposal. Just looking at that, I don't think it'd be that bad of a job if you had access to a steamer and an extractor, some really strong APC (on that truck, I might even resort to Simple Green -- something I NEVER do usually...), etc.

Now if I were having to do a lot more manual labor with weaker products, I'd definitely be inclined to charge more.

And on top of that, those are the kind of details where I go find a buddy who needs a few extra bucks, and pay them $50 to come out and help me with the grunt work while I concentrate on the "detailed" part of the detail. :)

And I would agree with that. I was just going by the 15 hours that he said it took him to complete the job. With help and some of the items you mentioned the job could be completed in half that time which would lower that $525 price going by the $35 an hour rate to a price of $270. So you price of $300 without batting an eye is about right, and would be a fair price.

Sry, been away for a bit. The owner spent 300.00$ for the clean up. 380 to recover the seat and 400 plus for some computer part.
I couldn't say if I would do it again or not.
