One more time on "6 inch wool", ONLY!

The Edge said:
Wanna, you are correct. measured from the back but the hairs extend to the 6 inch range. We do make 6 inch wool pads in all our standard colored textures that being Black, Yellow, Green, Blue and White and also Lambswool in our double sided version only with the quick connect using our Edge2000 adapter. These pads are available from all Presta distributors which include many body shop suppliers. We also allow people to special order them through any of their favorite online retail stores like AG, Danase, and whomever you want to ask. We specialize in special orders but the 6 inch wool pads are not really special order because we have been making them for many years under the Presta Qwik pad name but in our Edge2000 system. I hope this clears this up finally.

First off when I measure a wool pad, it is the diameter (largest distance across the "back" of the pads "backing"). This does not include wool fibers sicking out or anything else!

Therefore I am talking about a 6 inch backed wool pad, nothing else! The backing that is measured is some type of fiber/composition (none of the wool is measured).

EDGE, I have contacted you a couple times on this without any real success. I really think it is case of you not stopping to really read what I am saying . Please read:

This is what I want, but absolutely nowhere on your website or talking to you guys has produced what I want, even though you INSIST it does, I don't think you are really listening! If I am wrong I will definitely apologize, now, one more time:

I just don't know what else I can say! WHOOPS, yes I do, Edge give me the part numbers for the 6 " wool pads in different strengths/colors that you say you have! I will put in an order immediately!!!!!!!!!!

-----------------------------WOOL-ONLY-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want "6 inch wool pads, one sided measured from the back diameter of the pads base material" !

I do not want double sided, don't ask me again why, I don't want them!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You DO have 1 sided wool pads that are 7 and 1/2 inch in diameter and I have a bunch of them!!! Don't need more!

Then you are saying that you don't think I should ask for "Part numbers" because it is Rude, is that correct?

Changeling

I'm not saying anything about what you ask, what I'm saying is the way *you* ask it. We all ask and answer different matters, but the tome we do it makes a lot of influence in the type of answer we get, don't you think? I have nothing against you or anybody in this forum, but we can all help you if you help us as well, so please, be a little bit nicer, that's all...

Sorry to be so asinine, but this has become a "Holy War", LOLOL!

Changeling,

I find your tone both on this forum thread and in your emails to me very abrasive, aggressive, and rude as do many others on this thread. I have answered your questions as others have many times politely and it seems you do not want that answer. If you would read my post I made if very clear that we DO NOT MAKE 6inch WOOL PADS IN ANYTHING BUT OUR DOUBLE SIDED SYSTEM, you even quoted me saying that.

i normally would not even say anything, but after reading through this thread i can't help myself. i believe it is truly a case of the OP being oblivious to his own personality. i don't think any harm is intended, but the WAY things are worded, stated, CAPITALIZED, and excessive use of "!!!!!!" at the end of each sentence is his undoing.

i've also seen him briefly mention reasons why he "goes off the handle" at times...something about medication?...or health issues. can't really remember. either way, i think the OP should simply take a step back and listen to constructive criticism and work on his perceived demeanor on these forums. typing online and in emails is much more difficult to convey feeling properly...so if it's a personality issue that just isn't translating well on the computer...please take it to heart and try to do better.

Can somebody please clue me in when would one want 6" wool rather than 7+" wool? To use it with DA rather than rotary? If yes wouldn't that be against the point? I mean, it is my understanding people reach for wool for fast(er) cutting. Wouldn't rotary with 7+" better suit that purpose? I am just trying to figure out what's the big deal.

Some of us preffer smaller pads on the rotary, they are easier to control supposedly. Ive never used anything bigger than 6" on the rotary but would like to.

Hmmmm ... Then I see no point in insisting on them being wool pads. :nixweiss

I mean, you use wool when you want to increase the cut, right? Going smaller pad on rotary reduces the cut. In other words, one step forward, one step back, no benefit, except for handling, one can then as well stay with foam and maybe get CCS pads. :nixweiss

Or I am missing something?

Foam pads generate more heat than wool pads. I find using wool useful for spot buffing of wetsanding marks, with foam you have to make sure you keep it moving as to not burn the paint.

Listen dude, you are just plain rude! If you don't tone down or control yourself, I can guarantee you that the next thing I'll read under your nick will be the word "Banned". I'm not a mod, but I can see it coming on your future, unless you change!

I did not know that. I was subconciously associating aggresiveness/cut with higher heat. In that case I definitely need to try some wool pads.

I will not comment on your rudeness but I will try to help you how to get them which should then in turn hopefully help everyone by ending this. Here is how: Call any of the vendors listed on Aaron's Web page (hopefully one that sponsors Autopia) and tell them what you want. There is no need to tell them part numbers. If they are available they will special order them for you. Case solved/closed.

This should answer most your questions:

http://autopia.org/forum/machine-po...-cutting-pads-me-no-likey.html?highlight=wool

I sent an email to the address from the Edge's web site, asking them for info on who to order the 6" wool pads from. About an hour later, I got a reply stating that AG and a couple other places could order them. So today I got on the phone with AG. The guy immediately knew what I was talking about. Didn't need part numbers or anything. I ordered two of each color. I'm hoping these will cut down on the time needed to correct/finish really hard clears. The 6" pads are double sided and use the edge adaptor to connect to your machine.

Lot's of entertainment to be had in this thread...

I just finished reading thread Coupe pointed me to. Sounds real good. Makes me curious. Now I will be getting some wool pads to try. Thanks Coupe for getting me to spend more money :lol
