Omg! Help! I Scratched My Car!!!!

Deb - if all you have used is ScratchX, there is nothing for the clay to remove. IIRC, it doesn't have any fillers in it, but I might be wrong about that. What are you using to apply the ScratchX? You might want to try a piece of soft terry cloth if you have not tried it yet.

answer to your question is NO claying will not do anything to what you have done already, if you had waxed or glazed/polished then would do something but you have only tried removing the scratch so you could clay.

Terry, MF, foam pad. Only haven't tried that newfangled buffer I bought :) It may end up being a dangerous weapon in my hands:bigscream

A qd should get whatever residue is in the scratch.

Any polish with diminishing abrasives will be most "potent" at the start. After that it becomes more and more mild. Scratch X has dim.abrasives. In order to get the scratch leveled the quickest, you would apply a bit, rub a bit, apply some more, rub some more, apply..... I'd say you should spend less than 10 seconds per application. Also, don't rub hard. Repeated light applications will be less likely to introduce more marring. 10 applications isn't out of the question, depending on the severity of the scratch. As it looks pretty mild in the pic, it shouldn't be too bad. However, you said you can feel it with your fingernail, so it may be deeper than anticipated. It may be better to just make it "less there" than "gone." (save the rest of the paint.) After that, you could use a glaze and a wax and you may not even notice it from most angles.

What is a water blade and why is it being used to remove a few raindrops when you could (1) just let them dry naturally or (2) use a waffe-weave, if you really thought they might stain the car (not likely, unless hot sun baked the water spots in untouched for a while).

that scratch looks like a baby scratch. A water blade is essentialy...a windshield wiper, but a lot softer and a lot bigger (the silcone part) haha...i couldnt think of any other way to desribe it.

...seems like you want to try 3m ssr for dark cars. IMO it is a horrible product. I have a whole bottle here if you want to try some/but it.

The California Water Blade - a silicone (I think) "blade" used for removing water. Sort of like a big squeegee. You "rake" the water off the car with it.

Thanks for the confirmation about the clay JARED & LUCKY:D

Thanks BIGLEER, but read that info a little too late.

LIQUID, maybe a baby scratch in width, but not in length! Why don't you like the 3M? Not that I want to try it so badly, just read up on it and thought it may do a better job, or enhance what I've done. Anything else you may be able to suggest?

I know MOTHER'S makes a scratch remover, any better than MEGS? Is there any other GOOD scratch remover that works better on dark colors than Scratch X?

Have to wash the baby tonight or tomorrow - will definitely be using the MF towels and absorber to dry her off from now on:)

I've used both. As long as you have patience, both will work. I think Mothers was a bit faster, but it's still fairly mild, so repeated applications will be needed with either product. I have read that Scratch X may have fillers, but I haven't tested that myself. :dunno I'm not sure of the retail $ there, but here, Mothers is a bit cheaper than Scratch X, so based solely on price (considering similar performance) I'd go with Mothers.
