Olive oil for leather

While looking for fabric to re upholster a sofa I asked the guy about leather care.

He said, olive oil was the best thing to put on leather to keep it soft and prevent it from drying out.

Anyone every hear of that??

Never heard of that.. but it would give a whole new meaning to that dipped in salad oil look!

If you're talking about leather in cars, then NO don't do it.



Most leathers are coated for protection and durability.



The best way to clean: Woolite! 6:1 mix and you have one of the best cleaners!



Adding a conditioner is very subjective. I use Zaino Z-10 as it smells the closest to new leather.



Some treatments are too oily/greasy. You want one light on that aspect unless you're doing old leather.

Could the olive oil go rancid after it sits on the leather for a couple of weeks?

Don't know about Olive oil, but a guy at a corvette show told me he used baby oil w/aloe and vitamen E. He let it's it soak in over night then buffs it of with multiple towels. I've tried it and it seems to do a good job.
