Old School polisher thinking about making the jump to PC.

Thanks for all the info. I got home tonight and looked at the D/A I have. Its not a 7424 its a 7336. Funny thing I never noticed the speed adjustment after using it time to time for 2 years.

I decided to order a cyclo. I'm going to give that a go. I dont have time now but will read up on the 7336 when I have some free, and see if I can use that. It looks the same as the 7424 but has a port for dust.

7336 is ok to use(6 inch counterweight)- get a backing plate and a couple of foam pads and your good to go

Yup, they all are built the same, as a matter of fact I would guess many here (including myself) have the 7336 as that's the one Lowe's sells.

I got the Cyclo and used it for the first time. Its a great polisher. It's easy to use and idiot proof. I tried to burn urethane paint on a 06 buick with no luck. I can see why people use rotary and cyclo's etc. I cant see wanting anything less aggressive than the cyclo. I wont bother getting a pad for my 7336.

I should also mention, if you are a cyclo or PC user, be very careful if you decide to try a rotary. Its a whole different ballgame.

I would sum it up like this. Rotary's are buffers. Cyclo etc..are polishers. I can't see wet sanding a car, and breaking out the cyclo, I would think it would take forever, if it even could buff the car properly.

If anyone is considering buying a Cylco, it seems to be very well made. Definately worth the money that I spent on it.
