Did this 1989 Audi 80S yesterday as a Xmas present for a friend. The car was badly oxidized on the upper surfaces and several side panels, but strangely there were no swirls - probably because the car hadn't seen polish for maybe 3 years.
One of the rear side panels had been repainted a while back and the new paint was darker, giving that side a mismatched look. The front bumper had come down both sides from one too many reverses over a steep gutter, and the spoiler was a foam composition that the paint was flaking off. The wheels really needed a repaint, as brake dust had eaten into the paint.
It was in pretty poor shape all over, and all I could do was to sharpen it up a bit. Here's the results... they're good, but could have been much better if I had used my rotary with a wool pad. However, a high gloss would have looked out of place with the rest of the car's poor condition, so I saved some time and energy taking it to a lesser stage. That's the first time I haven't polished paint to its highest level.
Took 5 hours total, and 1 hour of that was the interior and glass. The owner was ecstatic!

The hood still had a shine under that oxidization:

The roof was in the same condition as the hood:

The roof finished:

The after shot here shows a different panel color, but I think this was the flash. They are actually the same color match now:
