Old Paint..What To Use?

My current project is a red'88 MBZ 560Sl. The paint is somewhat oxidized, and has been compounded at some point in the past (lots of residue under the hood and trunk lid). Not knowing how much paint is still left, I'm concerned that if I get too agressive, I'll go thru it.

What I have to work with is:

PC

IP

FPII

Prime Strong

AJ

CCS orange and white pads

I'm a bit of a newb....any help on what to use (and how) is much appreciated!

go with your main concerns, If you're worried you will "go thru the paint" starrt with a polishing pad and fp2 and work your way up.

Thanks Brian. I'm just getting to know the pc, so this is a good place to start. Only thing about this car is the non clearcoat paint.....pads and towels all get contaminated with red.

I don't think you need to worry about going through the paint

but I would start with a good paint cleaner like Klasse AIO, prime strong ect...

that stuff just eats oxidation and is non-abrasive
