Ok to layer s100 over Zymol wax?

I just bought a m3 and the previous owner used Zymol polish and carbon wax. Now i love the way the car looks with this wax but it's a little pricey. For this reason i'm thinking of using s100 Shine Enhancing Cleanser and topping it with s100 wax. Would it be ok to layer the s100 wax over the Zymol carbon wax for the first time? I'd hate to strip it off because the owner just waxed it before i bought it.

My other question is will the s100 Shine Enhancing Cleanser and wax be as good as the Zymol and is the Zymol worth the extra money? This stuff really makes the car look great and i want to know how the s100 holds up against it.

I just topped my P21S with Zymol Vintage and I honestly couldn't see the difference compared to what it looks like when I just top it with another layer of P21S. S100 is comparable to Carbon in my opinion. If it can hold its own against Vintage then it certianly shouldn't have any problem with Carbon.

When was the last time a coat of Carbon was applied to the car? If it has been more than a month or so then the chances that much Carbon is still on the surface is minimal. I would think that it would look better after using the S100 Shine Enhancing Cleanser and a layer of S100 carnauba than with an old layer of Zymol Carbon.

Thanks. Should the Harley dealer have both the s100 SEC and wax? I think i'm going to try it out.

Does the SEC contain wax and would it be ok to use on glass?

I don't believe SEC contains wax because it is a mild polish. I don't think you would want to use it on glass either. Its not a glass polish. There are other products you should use for glass. The harley shop should have them both though, yes.

Ok. I asked about using it on glass because the previous owner used the Zymol polish on the windows and the water just beeds and runs off bugs don't stick to the windshield either.

You can use RainX or Aquapel to do that. It will last longer than wax and is safer on your windows because it was designed to be used on the glass. I use RainX and I love it. There are several threads kicking around with tips on the best ways to use it. The best part is that you can get it just about anywhere. I think WalMart and Target even sell it. Great stuff. :xyxthumbs

My friend used rainX on his car a while back and i seem to remember him complaining about it leaving a haze on his windsheild. For some reason i've always been a little afraid of using it.

Is it worth layering mutiple coats of the S100?

RainX will leave a haze if not applied properly. If you apply it before you wash your car then there is no haze. Just wash your windshield at the very end before you rinse and you will get zero haze.

S100 looks great layered I think. I wouldn't go nuts with it or count the layers. Its still a wax and won't last forever. I try to put a new layer once a month. I don't really consider it layering though. I think of it as refreshing. :D

Ok so i should start by using the SEC and then the s100. How often should i use the SEC?

With the rainX i should wash the windshield, apply the rainX, wash with soap, and rinse? Am i going to have a probelm using ZIP carwash since it has wax in it? And what do you use to remove rainX?

Time removes rainX. There shouldn't be a need to remove it otherwise. That is the correct method though. Apply, wash with soap and water, then rinse. Let it stay on the windshield as long as you can. You can wash the rest of the car and its fine if it gets wet, just make the windshiled the last thing you wash.

SEC is a polish that cleans the paint and may remove very minor swirls. You shouldn't need to use it very often. It will remove wax if you use it very often. Its a very once in awhile thing.

Ok i have a pretty good idea of what i need to do. Should i dawn wash all my glass to remove the zymol before applying the rainX?

You should use lighter fluid (any brand should do) to clean the windsheild first. That should remove almost anything as it's a common suggestion for stripping Rain-Yech (sorry Jngr! :lol) as well.

I would not worry about the tiny amounts of wax that some shampoos claim they contain.

I bought the s100 SEC and s100 wax today and am planning on putting it on this weekend. Just to make sure. The SEC will stain black moldings correct? Oh and the applicator that came with the wax look a little shabby, is it ok to use?

That's what I said about that pad. I just use it as a coaster while I'm working. :p I use the yellow foam pads to apply it. I hear that the grey one it comes with is fine to use. It just seems too flimsy to me I guess.

Yeah it's not much of a pad. Can you answer my question about the SEC, will it stain my black moldings? I didn't know the SEC contained petroeum disillates. I guess i should keep it off everything but the paint.

I haven't used it so I can't really say. If it has fillers in it then it will. You should avoid getting stuff on the trim regardless of whether it will stain or not anyway. You can probably find out with a search if you worded it right. I use Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion and I haven't noticed that staining anything. I hear that is similar to GEPC and SEC. I really don't know though.
