OK No Chuckles!!!!

Just One More Coat
Here is a pic of me with my 66 Stang that I drove to HS back in the day. This was about 1971 I was a Jr. My dad and I painted this car from a burgundy to british racing green. 26 coats of laquer wet sanding between coats, then hand rubbed with Dupont rubbing compounds then polished. The car was a mirror with a show room quality.

You can see now where I get my love for cars and keeping them clean.

Thanks Dad RIP!

Very cool Beemer. The time you spent with your dad doing this far surpasses the car and the car looks fantastic. you both are/were lucky. Rick

Dayum Beemer, didn`t know we are about the same age! I was also a junior in HS in `71 and was driving a Honda 90 Scrambler:)

how long before we can :lmfao :rolling :rofl at those cool bell bottoms:dunno :D

nice car...:bigups

Wow, there are a bunch of us @ the same age!

But I was driving a Honda CB100 motorcycle, which my Dad bought me and taught me to maintain & repair as needed. I still have many great memories of time spent in the basement with my Dad - RIP, Dad.

Probably the most valuable lesson he taught me was: "If it is worth doing, it is worth doing RIGHT!" I'm trying to instill the same values in my 17 year old son.

My Dad was a master mechanic who did fine cabinet making on the side. He built my teak bedroom suite in 1975 and I'm still using it today!

So, no, I'm not going to laugh, snicker or even chuckle at the pic - it just brings back "warm, fuzzy memories". Thanks for sharing, Beemerboy!

PS - You're getting fingerprints on the finish!! EEK!!

Thanks all for the kind words and Steve you can make fun of the bells are you want, I was in style back in those days!!!

I'd also bet that you have a pic wearing about the same!!!

I sold that car and brought a 67 GTO that is the only car that I never got any pics of. White with black inside what a great ride.

Its the second picture down

Its been my brother and his labor of love for over 10 years now. (so if you do buy the 65 and need parts let me know I might be able to help you out....He has an entire car in spare parts in the garage that im sure he is willing to get rid of) He was a mechanic for ford before he went into the army and my brother is a ford mechanic so I guess it was a bonding expereince of some sort!

Either which way they took out the stock 289 and droped in a worked 302 which pulled a 383rwhp on the dyno I don't quite remember what the torque was at but it was up there.

other than the 302 they converted the clutch to a hydrolic setup, and other minor modifications.

Just last winter it went in for a full paint job.... The car looks amazing Mirror is not the word for it!

well Good luck with getting the car!
