Ok, NC Detail Fest, June 30th!

Ok, the weather man is calling for showers and storms on Sat, but whatever we detail we can just keep it in the garage and do it there. The "test" truck will likely be our QX56, unless someone else has anything they want detailed.

So meet Sat. between 9:30 and 10:00, stay till around 1:00 to 2:00 or so? Sound good?

Is anyone having a hard time finding directions to my house?

Yeah, I posted it up earlier.

1097 Flat Rock Church Road, Louisburg NC 27549.

Once you get on flat rock from hwy 401, you will go about 1.6mi and on your left will be a house with a pond/paved driveway, black mailboxes, 2 rock colums.

Once you get on flat rock from May's Cross Roads, you will go about 2mi on your right, same deal, pond/paved driveway, black mailboxes, 2 rock colums.

Everyone, the detailfest will be in the rear of the house. There will be a main house, guest house, and then the big garage in the rear.

I'm planning on bringing the red Dakota. It's full of scratches and scrapes, but the paint itself is good. I think it will make a great 'before' and 'after,' if we get to it. (And if we avoid photographing the driver's side, where there is a big dent above the fuel filler door courtesy of the prior owner.)

Anymore room for one more person? I was suppose to order a PC two weeks ago but bought a set of big brake kit instead. I was wondering maybe someone can teach me the proper way of using one before i get mine. You can use my car as a test vehicle as well. I drive a black 350z with a good amount of swirls that is bothering me. Thanks guys.

Come on man, more than welcome.

FYI-We can fit 2 cars in the garage, 3 if we squeeze. Usually, at 10:00 in the morning, the wash area outside the garage is still in the shade, so I wash outside, then bring to the inside.

We should have plenty of parking, I am taking the tractor and smoothing out the driveway that the parking is on (non dust gravel).

We have some drinks, what about food? anyone want to volunteer? Who is going to be the main teacher? I know alot about detailing, but when it comes to proper swirl removal, I am not as good as I should be.

If anyone has any ?'s, feel free to call me 671-9377. I am at the beach house today detailing my boat, will be back in town tommorow. I have a f-350 to detail. Then friday I am detailing my truck and the "shop". It needs a good dusting. I cant have 15 ppl coming to a dirty shop.

Anyone want to trade/sell products is fine by me. I know that I would be very interested in trading some of my stuff, and possibly selling some of it as well.

Thanks, i'll be there. Do you know how long this is suppose to last so i can schedule my day?(not trying to be rude)

what kind of food should be brought? snacks?

Yeah, we posted that earlier. It's from about 9:30 to 2:00 or so. No real designated time.

Just some snacks and shiz, nothing major. We could probably use some munchies throughout the day.

Ok guys, wral.com is showing rain the whole day on sat. weather.com is showing sunny conditions all day sat.

Either way, we can put whatever we work on in the garage and detail it in there in the A/C.

Pic's or die! Weather.com really isn't accurate, all computer generated info. Wral.com generally actually has realtime info.

I intend on bringing my digital SLR camera as well as a small video camera in case we want to shoot some vids for tutorials and such. Brandon, do you have a grill out there? Maybe we can bring some hotdogs or something and throw them on the grill. I don't consider myself and expert, but I've had some pretty good success at swirl removal. I would say I'm a beginner at the rotary, but at the same time I feel like I have turned the corner in my learning and have recently had some very good results. I did my brother's hood on his M3 and pretty much eliminated all swirls with zero to minimal marring. I'm sure just all of use being there, we will all learn from each other.

Yeah, we have a outdoor kitchen on the back deck of the house.

I am pretty good with the PC and rotary, I would say that I would be a 7 out of 10 skill wise, I just need that extra 3 to be really good.

I can volunteer to do some teaching on sat.

I cant wait to see everyone!!

Sorry ya'll - it's my fault, never should have cut the grass and detailed a car last night! Thank Brandon for having a big garage where we can get in out of the rain.

Damn you, well I will wash my truck tomm. so it will definatly rain sat. I will be keeping mine in the garage and not outside in the rain.

Jimmy, when are you coming? You wanna come a little early and help set up some things? I cant remember if you said you were coming late or leaving early.

I'll bring totilla chips and salsa.

I'd love to buy some zaino stuff. Is there a dealer in NC anymore? I could also use something more aggressive than ZPC. I'll bring some stuff to trade. I've got some a mostly full bottle of Wolfgang sealant I probably won't use, maybe find some other stuff.
