DACP is a fantastic polish and does great at removeing swirls and imperfections with the PC. I have done over 10 cars with #83, #80 and #82 I am just sick of how hard DACP is to use. Not user freindly at all. I finally got around to doing my own car this weekend and even took a half day friday to get started on it. 18 hours and 3 days later i finally finished it. The DACP is what took me forever. I LOVE #80 however, very user freindly and is no slouch, but it does have its limits so obviuosly i need something stronger like DACP but much easier to use.

Right now i ussually do my polishing in this order:

#83 (some paints dont need it but 90% of them do)

#80

#82 or #7

LSP

What can i replace #83 with that is user freindly and not cost an arm and a leg?

What to get and where to get it please.

I tried searching, searching on this site is hard to do.

what made the #83 so bad to work with? the removal after polishing a section? if the polish isn't broken down fully it is a PITA to remove...but i use a QD spray to assist no matter what. never had anything too bad happen when using it.

Look into the Hi-Temp line, their Medium cut is similar to DACP. You can find them at topoftheline dot com.

My thoughts exactly, at least now that PI-III RC 05933 is getting hard to find ;) I'd probably look at the Heavy Cut though, might as well get a little more cut and something farther along the scale from #80.

I dont see any polishes that are called 'Hi-temp' on topoftheline. I see optimum hyper compound, optimum compound and a bunch of polishes and levelers ive never heard of. Whats a leveler anyway?

Can you guys elaberate a little more on how to use this stuff and where it fits in my polishing steps?

Leveler are used for paint correction .... they fit into your steps the same as other polishes and most people would probably call them polishes.

From the Top of the Line web site:

As with all HI-Temp paint levelers, the Medium Cut uses a micro-bead, chemical abrasive for virtually swirl free application. This allows the user to move directly to the final step of wax application. In comparison, compounds use a mechanical abrasive which leaves scratches, and requires an additional step to remove that damage.

Well it takes FOREVER to break down and even when you do break it down its still so hard to remove. That and you have to clean the pad after EVERY panel and sometimes after EVERY 12"x12" section. Cleaning the pad sucks to, its the equivalent of trying to get gum out of carpet.

Looks like i might be able to take out step #80. I have to use #80 now to remove the haze that #83 leaves behind.

Heavy cut is meant for a rotary unfortunately.

Extreme cut says it can be used by both rotary and PC. Thats confusing......

The medium cut leveler i assume is what you guys are talkin about. How much more abbrasive is it than DACP? I would like to use something that can do what DACP can do plus some. Im also assuming this will leave a haze like DACP that will need to be cleaned up by something less abbrasive like #80?

what's the difference bewteen meduim cut leveler and medium cut polish? and how do they compare to OHC?

I dont see anything made by hi-temp that is called a med cut polish, only medium cut leveler.

So leveler and polish are the same thing right?

I have the same problem with DACP-a pain to remove. It works great at getting rid of the swirls but it sometimes takes longer for me to remove then to polich out even when using a QD. I switched to IP but the problem there is dusting.

I would take *dusting* over *guming*.

It would be great to find something that dosent do either one of those. I dont think thats even possible.

I've heard good things about Extreme Cut and Optimun Polish combo for us PC users. Just watch out because is a powerfull abbrasive. Maybe someone else can elaborate more on it's use or experience.

Were you using a cutting pad??

I have found it is imperative if you are trying to fix surface issues.

For removal....spray some FI or QD and them buff off and review your work as you go.

I stick by DACP and have used it to fix severe marring.

Normally I use a rotary when it comes to polishing but since my rotary has given up on me I was forced to use the PC, I used a cutting pad with the infamous 50/50 Hi temp extreme and Optimum polish. I am very pleased with the results. It does a great job of taking out swirls. Since Iam also using optimum polish it allows me to work the polish longer on panels. I would definetly give it a try.

But ya ur right, 83 does suck. I actually had 3 32oz bottles of 84/83/82 sold all 3 of them and bought HTEC and OP..

Hope this helps

Now im confused even more :(

So what should i get then? hi-temp heavy cut? hi-temp extreme cut? optimum (dont know what my options are with that)?

Deemo, yes i use a cutting pad.

Hitemp Extreme Cut is supposed to be able to take out 600grit sand marks, and if you use it alone the finish wont be great and you will have to follow it up with a finishing polish. But If you mix with something like Optimum Polish, it wil allow you to work longer and achieve a more cleare finish if you will

This is what I would do, Get in touch with Hi-temp website, and see if they can send you out a sample of either Hi Temp extreme, or medium cut. That way you will be able to judge for your self which works best for you.

how about menzerna intensive polish or poorboys ssr2.5 ??

i personally liked the results from the menzerna better, but they should be equivalent to the dacp
