I just did my 1st paint correction, i'm using a PC7424. The vehicle was a 2007 chevrolet silverado, black. anyway, on to my questions..

1.while I was working on the truck, I used megs105 with a LLC orange pad as my first step after claying the truck, problem was, I could not get the PC to "spin" on speed 6...without basically lifting it completely off the truck, which in turn made the pad.."pancake"..? it spun it out so it was almost flat... Am i doing something wrong? why will it not spin..?

I did not have this problem when I used the megs205 with the grey pad..

2. How do I know what RPM's it is at? I see ya'll talking about using it different RPM's for different processes..

3. What speed/number should i be using for the LSP wax...?

please understand I am very new at this and I am looking for any help, I can get.I tried to post pic's of it but it would not let me for some reason..

Thank you in advance for any answers. ideas... Brad

Thats really strange...maybe you are using too much pressure, but then again, you lifted it off the car and it spun. Did you clean the panel from the clay residue? and are you working in direct sunlight? what about the pad, is it a fresh one? Pretty strange and the only time I ever had trouble with the PC not spinning was from too much pressure. also, I had that problem with the hydrotech pad "sticking" to the paint and not spinning as well, but that was super soft BMW paint in direct sunlight...

RPM is for the rotary, not the PC. Dont worry about it...speed six is all you need from the PC unless glazing or applying wax

3. What speed/number should i be using for the LSP wax...? 4 or 5

see above :hifive:

OK THANKS!! i tried to post some pic's in the before and after, but the pic's came out small.. i'm getting frustrated trying to get these pic's up...

[This thread kinda belongs in the "Detailing" forum as opposed to the "Pro" one..]

tkc- If you're using a large (i.e., ~6" pad), that might be the problem. No way I'd try to do GM clear (I have a Yukon and I've used M105/M205 on it) with anything larger than a 5.5", and I myself only use 4" pads on the PC when doing correction. Large pads generate so much friction that the PC's limited power can't maintain the rotation part of the equation, so all that you get is the "orbital" part, i.e., it just "jiggles".

The M105/M205 are simply quite different products that do a different level of abrasion, so it's not weird for them to behave differently. The M105 is more abrasive so there's more friction from that, and the M205 also has a lot more oils/etc. so it's a much "slicker"-behaving product.

makes sense.. i guess i will try the 4" pads and see how that works.. thanks again!

and sorry about this being in the wrong place.. i will pay a lil more attention next time..
