Took my car in to get some new shocks installed. I guess they go in through the back seat to get at the rear shocks. never the less the mechanic who was installing them didn't think to place some paper mats over my rear carpets and there are some greese / oil marks on the carpets. :angry Is there anything out there that someone can recommend before I attempt to get them out?

thanks

You can try some Prestone Interior Cleaner to remove the stains. I also know that several forum members have had excellent luck with Woolite and water (1 part Woolite to 6 parts water).

You also might want to try Meg APC.

Just a couple of suggestions.

Depends on how bad they are. If they are smudges from work boots try a carpet cleaner like Resolve. I've been using this lately with very good results.

If there are clumps of grease or serious amounts of oil, you need a petroleum product to remove them. Try something like 3M Grease, Wax, and Tar Remover. Blot, don't rub the spots. Follow up with a detergent cleaner or APC like EFHI. If the grease is embedded into the fibers, there's nothing that can be done but do the best you can.

Last ditch attempt? Brake cleaner.

Ok thanks for the ideas guys. I'll try some carpet cleaner first tonight and see how that works. Its not too bad but will make me frantic if they do not come out.

One word. Folex. I smudge a white rug with black shoe polish (a big chunk...doh!) and nothing was getting out. I put Folex on it, and presto chango....gone. The bad part is the now I have a nice white spot which is cleaner than the rest of the rug.
