oh no, scratches

its dark, so i don't know how bad it is (hopefully not that bad) but...

i just got home from work, i was pulling into the driveway. it was dark and i mis-judged it. i ended up (without even knowing) pulling up right beside the bushes on the right of the driveway (i was backing into the driveway). it must have gotten half way from the back to the middle (right before end of drivers door).

i have no idea how bad it is, although i know my car was pretty dirty, so maybe some of the dirt absorbed the scratches rather than the car.

anyone know how bad the scratches are from bushes? am i going to be in for a heartbreak in the morning when its light outside ? the color is black btw...

:(

another questoin besides what i wrote above...

are scratches by bushes (these bushes lined the driveway, little tiny leaves on them)..

i would probably think these would be surface clear/coat scrathces/buffs, probably really tiny, and not deep at all. since ive never repaired these before, would a resonable shop be able to buff them out / use a non-abrsive (or little) polish or some kind of glaze to get rid of them?

if they do this, would it be a temporly thing, or would they be gone forever? i doubt im the first that did this, and it was only for a few seconds, so it shoudln't be that bad.

they are horrizintal, not the typical swirl marks one gets from using a towel in a circular motion.

Well, late one night I smacked the side of my garage with my black car and put some nice scratches in it. However, Scratch X took care of it for me. These were really deep ones too.

Try Meguiars #9 swirl remover and then proceed to Scratch X if #9 doesn't work.

I'm sure they aren't that bad, especially if they have leaves on the ends. Just a couple of light marks because black cars show all. Its branches putting pressure on the car, that would mark it up.

I don't feel that comfortable trying to remove them myself I think. I would rather find a detailing shop to do them for me. Is that a bad idea? If its alright, any idea what a shop might charge to do that? The area in question is really just from the bottom to about 1/2 the way up the side doors. Like I said, its from small leaves, probably all surface scratches.

Last question for now, would any type of soultion just be temporary, or would using some kind of swirl remover or whatever a shop (or myself) would use be a perament fix.

thanks

I would advise against taking it to a detailer unless you are 100% confident of their abilities. A hack job might introduce a whole new set of rotary swirls or holograms (not to mention possible burns) into your paint. If you're reading this forum, you must be relatively enthusiastic about detailing, so I would advise you to go get a PC and start doing things yourself. You'll find countless posts on PC use and the products to use with it.

It's a little scary taking that first plunge. I know I was pretty nervous heading out of Lowe's with the newly purchased PC in hand thinking "I'm just going to screw things up even worse." But now, I realize that I wouldn't have even close to the results I do now without the mighty :bow PC.
