Might be the wrong place to ask but a couple of questions for you guys...

How comfortable are these sport bikes? I might get one this summer to replace my daily driver.

What are some good ways to learn to ride if a friend with a bike isnt available?

And lastly I was looking at a ninja 250r for my first bike, looks good and seems like a nice starter bike, also the price tag is awsome.

The best thing I can suggest is to go down to your local dealer and sit on a few.

Check out the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, they are the primary agency that coordinates training around the country. You can find the nearest location where you can take a course at the website.

I know a LOT of people think about getting into riding with the idea that they can save a ton of money riding a bike rather than driving a car. That is not always the case. Make sure you take ALL the hidden costs into account such as maintenance, riding gear, insurance etc...

Yes, the Ninja 250r would be a GREAT starter bike!

Thanks man appriciate it. Im good with mechanics so bike repairs would be done by myself but yes i did figure in the gear. Also what do you guys pay for insurrance? I know it varies with companies and many other factors but what would a rough estimate be for an 18 year old, no accidents, safe location and seasonal rider?

Best way to find out is get quotes for yourself. There is no way you will get an accurate "quote" from what rate WE pay. They take into account; age, location, years licensed, type of bike, how many miles you will ride said bike, accidents/tickets, type of coverage any discounts you are entitled to, etc.

Just to give you an idea - I live in So Cal and pay about $400/year for BOTH of my bikes (Ducati and Suzuki). That's theft and comp. Both bikes are paid off so I choose not to carry collision. If someone causes me to crash their insurance pays anyway. And IF I wreck it, that's on me, I'll fix it myself or trash it and go buy another. I'll guarantee the next guy with the same bikes as me will pay something completely different based on all the different criteria I listed.

Good luck with a new bike and ride safe.

Ninja 250 is too small unless you are a short and thin guy or a smaller female. I was thinking of it for my first bike, but ended up going with the Ninja 500r. After a few days of riding, i sat on the 250 for kicks....it felt like a rag doll.

500R is a superb learning bike.

My 2007 Hayabusa. traded a 2000 Triumph Sprint 955 for it. First picture is at the dealer, before I brought it home. Next one is the first time I rode it after I got it home. I like the looks of the hump on the rear better than with just the seat and grab bar. I bought it in December and had it delivered. Didn't ride it until March.

Picking up my new bike on thursday! woot!!!

Pics will follow of course.

Oh and I'm gonna make the guys at the dealer think I'm crazy. Gonna do an ISO wipedown on the bike at the dealer, and then hit it with some Zaino Clear Seal before the ride home (95miles) lol. They're gonna think I'm crazy haha.
