Odd Peeling Paint from VW Golf

My 2001 Golf is suddenly peeling its pearl green paint from a panel just below the right front passenger side door. I think this is a plastic piece but am unsure. What can I do to stop and fix this?

Nothing much can really be done to stop it. Just be careful when washing that area. The only way to truly fix it is to repaint the problem part. In 90% of the cases of peeling paint it's caused by improper surface prep before the part was sprayed. Since this is a 2001 there should be some type of warranty on the paint from VW, I would contact them ASAP.

Do you mean your rocker panel is peeling? The thing that looks kinda like a side skirt and has a rough textured feel to it?



There were issues with the clear coat peeling around the front bumpers, but nothing about on the sides...



Come over to http://forums.vwvortex.com and go to Volkswagen, Golf/Jetta IV, and post about your problem in there. Someone else may have had this problem.



Also, if you could post a picture that would be helpful.
