OCW, whats up with this?

well excited to use OCW today after a wash i pulled it out after i completely dried my car and gave it a go. i gave the hood 2 sprays and quickly began to spread it with a MF. i immediately noticed how my MF would become grabby and unfold. not paying too much attention to it i flipped the towel and tried to buff it off. what did i do wrong? this stuff would not budge. the car was cool, i didnt let the produuct sit. i had to go over the area 3 times with DS.

i attempted it a couple more times on different panels and nothing. same experience.

now i know something has to be wrong here. with all the great reviews and quotes of waxing in 5 minutes i know somethings up.

was i supposed to apply this to a wet car?

can i apply it to a wet car and dry from there?

for got to mention i had 3 coats of ss pink wax prior.
 
I just finished applying OCW to two vehicles yesterday. One vehicle was white and the other was phantom metalic grey. The vehicles were washed, dried, clayed, polished, washed, dried and finally OCW was applied immediately afterwards. I used a Meguires even coat applicator to apply the OCW and it worked very well. I even applied OCW to the windows, but very sparingly on the glass (outside only). It worked great for me. I'm guessing the 3 coats of ss pink wax might be your troubles, but you can easily test it to find out. Simply remove the ss pink wax from your smallest panel and then try the OCW to see how it works.
 
joyriide....car must be dry.
I had the same problem on a car that had leaked some water from the crevices. When the MF and ocw came into contact, it was very grabby.

the problem happened with the car dry
 
I applied it to a wet car and was not thrilled with the appearance. I then applied two more coats on a dry car within a few more weeks. It worked best on a dry car.Wet or dry the micro never grabbed. Beaded beautifully when rained on. The appearance did look better after the wax was on for a few days but it did not wow me.
 
Do not know what may have caused that on a dry car.
Sounds like others posting in this thread might be directing you towards a fix.
 
OCW can be used on a damp but not wet car. Meaning that after it is either blowed dry or water bladed and some slight water remians on it it can then be used. Since OCW is a polymer and also a wax it will not bond over a carnauba wax that may already be applied. Remove the wax and start with fresh clean paint. One spray should do a hood, 2 for a large hood.

Spray the OCW and work it in until it is totally gone then flip your towel and buff it. You need to generate a little bit of warmth to melt the carnauba wax. Also make sure you give the bottle a little shake.
 
Yeah, you probably have some previous carnauba wax under it. Try to clean out the previous layer and redo over again. I had using this for a year already and no problem at all. I love it(esp dong spit shine with Meg#16)
 
I had the same characteristic over NXT Paste. As with the Mothers Reflections Spray Wax, you need to give it a fair amount of vigorous shake. Things will go on smoother.
 
ha! i feel dumber than a pile of bricks.

SHAKE THE BOTTLE. WELL!

i gave it another try today w/ out shaking and the same crap happened. then i looked at the bottle and noticed how it seperated. so i gave it a good shakin'. problem solved. went on completely easy and came off easier than souveran.

im happy.

Yes, definitely shake it well and keep shaking it between sprays cause the stuff inside settles out fast, but it sure is easy to use and I like it.

I'm not sure exactly, but I've done my Honda CR-V @ 10 times this summer, & I'm less than 1/2 way through my spray bottle. I usually use one or two spritzes per panel, so I would say slightly less than one ounce/car? :confused:

I used OCW on a Toyota Matrix, a Ford Excursion and three Ford F350's and I've still got some left in the 17oz spray bottle! OCW definitely goes a very long ways and I love the fact it does not leave white chalky stuff on the trim.

I love OCW! awesome on touchups and door jambs, engine jambs, awesome stuff. I highly reccomend a gallon!

I simply don't do enough cars to get a gallon. I had seen OCW before I saw this forum, and I had strong thoughts of buying it, but I couldn't find any review. Since everyone seems to love it here, I'm definitely getting at least 17oz.
