OCW = slick Baby!

Guys I wanted to post my findings on this product after using it for several months now. (although probably not as long as Anthony or Scott).



I really love Optimum...BUT I'm no longer using it on black. I was having streaking and hazing problems on black when used on top of other sealants. Most of my custmers i don't see very often so most of the time I was using Optimum in the same detailing session as UPP or Wolfgang and on the lighter colors you really can't see the streaking but I'm sure it's there...on black and dark blue it stands out like a sore thumb.



Now...with that said...same cars and same colors washing the car a week later and applying OCW after the wash and I have ZERO issues so I've basically come to the conclusion that it doesn't like being applied on top of sealants that are new to the paint. Maybe if the others were given a full 24 hours to clear this wouldn't have been such an issue.



Just wanted to make you guys aware of this. Other than that I have no gripes about the product and have 2 gallons of it sitting in my basement as we speak.

What is happening Andy is that you're applying a polymer on top of another polymer in too short of a time period. Let the first bond for at least 24 hours then try the OCW. It seems you have figured that out though :)



I have no streaking issues with OCW as it is my only topper. Even over AIO on dark colors there may be some streaking problems.



OCW should not be topped with another polymer either as that may give you bonding issues due to the carnauba in the OCW.

Cheers for the info - I would be using it on mine a week or two after the first wash to boost the finish so hopefully it should be ok.
 
Those reflections are killer...Start giving sunglasses with your details Anthony....



OCW has also become on of my favorites. Clear, bright, easy to use, good protection, long lasting and reasonably priced....How can you go wrong???

On the optimum website, it says:

"The clear coat contains polymeric resin or binder, UV inhibitors, and generally one or more additives. The additives can help protect the surface from scratches and marring, and generally last several months. Optimum Car Wax will add Carnauba wax to the surface and replenish sealant polymers to protect the finish from the environmental elements."

How much Carnauba is in it? I like the way it looks and the ease of use; just curious as to how much carnauba is really there.

Hey RC, long time no chat :)



First let me clarify something or better correct something I said earlier. What's is seperating in the Optimum wax is the UV absorbers. There are actually equal parts of polymers and carnauba wax so roughly 1/3 wax.

Optimum Polish + OCW for the win!

I used that combo again today on a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was a gray with what looked like a greenish tint to it and was really pleased how wet and glossy it came out. OCW applies and removes so quickly too. :)
 
Here's the beading after using Poorboy's blue polish with carnauba then Optimum spray wax - it rained about an hour after I finished detailing my car (oh for a garage!), I moved my car and pretty much every bead rolled straight off!

I love OCW, I'm using it more and more!
 
Had my Optimum polish and wax delivered yesterday (thanks Ron) I am really looking forward to using both( thank you Scott for your knowledge )

Used my OCW for the first time today on my own car.



I went over the whole car with 4* UPC then followed up with the OCW... sooooo easy to use. If you can use a QD spray, you can use OCW! I'll try and get some pics posted up tomorrow.
 
Here was todays detail.

Car had paint, road tar on the passenger and rear passenger rocker and door panel, heavy swirls on the roof, hood, and trunk lid.

Washed and clayed, used Chemical Guys Lazer Buff Scratch n Swirl Remover, CG Revive Polish, and topped w/ OCW.
