OCW: I almost feel like I used it incorrectly

I believe that OCW even contains a polymer sealant along with the carnauba. I don't understand why there would be an issue applying it over a sealant base.

Huh? Are you saying you can't use it over a sealant? Or not a carnauba? Or both? Or neither? You've got a double negative in there.

thanks for noticing my error. i corrected it and it should say 'yes, it's that easy as long as you use it over a sealant and not carnauba wax.'

sorry, long day at work. :work:

and in my experience, when i used it over FMJ, it went on and off very easily. when i used it over TS, it would streak and not always come off easily, not to mention it didn't look easy.

Today I received my order from pakshak (2 days early! Ranny you rule!) and in it I got some Optimum polish. I was reading over the directions and it says that you need to use OCW to remove it. Is this just another one of those company trying to get you to buy more of their product schemes or will optimum polish not be fully removed unless ocw is used? if so will a chemical cleaner, i got some aio finally, work instead?

Actually, it is a time saving tip. Use OCW to remove the Optimum residue after polishing and you cleaning and protecting in one step.

Optimum Polish and the Compound wipe off with very little effort when you work it in properly.

So, I have seen mixed opinions. Is OCW a QD, a spray wax, an LSP? Is it for use over a sealant or over/under a carnauba?

It is designed to be a stand alone sealant. It is not a QD in any way but it is applied just like one, hence the confusion it creates.

I don't know if this was mentioned but I usually use ~1 ounce to do an entire car including wheels and door jams. Very cost effective and efficient, IMO.

I know, that's why I posted it :lol It's just amazingly easy, it almost seems like you are doing it wrong :grinno:

I also tested out my optimum compound and polish on a friends hood, man that stuff is amazing :woot: You can just work the heck out of it it stays so wet. I love this stuff!

What's durability like? I suppose it only reallly has to last until the next wash.

I got about 1 & 1/2 months of good beading with ocw (freshly clayed surface) on my step father's cayenne which is parked outside 8 hours a day in an area that gets bombarded by airplane fallout. When I noticed that the beading what weakening, it took me 15 minutes to apply a fresh coat.

It is so easy to use, just use it every time you wash or every other time.

What are the working temperatures for OCW? I just got mine today and wondering if Ill be able to use it during the Michigan Winter?

I haven't had issues, but I *think* that it is recommended to not use it when the temp is below 50 degrees. I'll check my gallon when I get home, I think it states that in the directions.

Even on the coldest days in Memphis, with a closed garage (non-heated) I have NOT had issues. I think some people have had streaking issues when applying OCW in *very* cold conditions.

I am usually getting around 2 months on a black daily driver and around 5 months on my garage queens.

But yeah because it is so easy and simple to use it's no problem to do the car every 3 weeks as it only takes 15 minutes or so to do the whole car. One client I sold some to was shocked that it took him 11 minutes to wax his BMW after washing it. He would normally set aside a few hours to do it with the traditional paste wax. :xyxthumbs

I can't believe you guys are getting well over a month's protection from a spray wax...or sealant...or QD...or whatever the heck it is.

What kind of prep are you doing before application of OCW? Is it working alone as the LSP, or do you have something underneath it?

Don't focus so much on the application, how a product goes on isn't important (to a degree, obviously!), how it looks and protects is.

OCW isn't any thinner than Klasse SG or 1Z Glanz Wax.
