OCW: I almost feel like I used it incorrectly

I washed two of my cars this weekend and decided to try out my new bottle of OCW. I almost feel like I used it incorrectly :o

I sprayed it on the panel, and used a MF to wipe it on, and it pretty much wiped on and right off. I guess I was expecting it to smear around and then try to buff it out. It seriously went on and off just like a QD. It just spread around and disappeared. Is it really that easy? :o

I haven't used OCW, but I have used numerous "spray waxes" as detail sprays.

They seem to work great for cleaning as well as adding a small layer of protection every time you use it.

I've used Wax-As-U-Dry, Meg's Quik Wax, Dupont Spray Wax, Meg's NXT Spray Wax, and Mothers Spray Wax as detail sprays. They seem to work better if cut 50/50 with water, but they all work great and leave a shine.

Glad you had a good experience with OCW. I just did some research on OCW and it looks like great product.

i hear great things about OCW so i ordered a gallon of it. glad to hear its so easy to put on as well :).

BTW i hear of some people applying this with a pc, if it is easy as wo/wo would there be any benifit of applying by machine??

I can't think of any reason to make the application more complicated and take up more time.

OCW is pretty darn easy to use. I like to spray a plush MF towel and wipe on as opposed to directly on the panel as I find it goes on more evenly. Then I buff with an ultra-fine MF. Piece of cake!

I used it for the first time today on an emergency detail. (more to come later). Very easy to use. Spray it on wipe off with a plush MF. I rebuffed later to remove some I did not get the first time and to gloss it up.

Protection is good too, I did my car with OCW a month ago and it is still beading tightly today, washed the car twice in-between without adding further wax and it is still beading up very well indeed, so it is durable too.

In colder climates one may need the extra heat and friction provided by a polisher to "melt" the carnauba within the OCW formulation.

This may also give the OCW more gloss, but this is highly subjective.

When I apply OCW I do so until it all disappears and then I turn the towel and buff the panel.

Anthony, I am assuming that you spray the OCW directly on a panel and not onto a MF towel. Correct?

Yes, I usually apply it directly to the panel. If I am doing it in the sun or on a warm panel I spray it on the towel.

Optimum spray Car Wax is good stuff!! Wipe on--Wipe off and if you buy it by the gallon it's as cheap or cheaper than some of the OTC detail sprays out there. No cleaners or polish therefore it can be layered. I use it as a detail spray and get protection as well.

Yep, spray it on, wipe it off. You'll use less product if you spary it on a MF towel first. Nice shine and really slick.

yes, it's that easy as long as you don't use it over a sealant and not carnauba wax. :grinno:

Huh? Are you saying you can't use it over a sealant? Or not a carnauba? Or both? Or neither? You've got a double negative in there.
