OCW after 6 weeks

While not wanting to get into the whole "beading signifies durability" debate, I thought these pics would be of interest. My Mum's car six weeks after I'd used PB spray and wipe and one coat of OCW. I asked my Mum if She'd put it through a car wash ( with wax spray ) She said no it hasn't been washed for six weeks :hide:

Even my sister commented on it !

I’ve used OCW on several cars now and I’ve noticed that water beads seem to stay in place rather than roll from the hood. Is this a normal characteristic of OCW or can it be attributable to surface prep?

Nice beading. Like above post mentioned. Its this a garage car?

My car park outside 24/7 and within 3-4 weeks all the bead are gone. Yup I use OCW too.

excellent durability.. i think how it was "prepped" (ie compound work) makes the difference from one ocw coat to another

Beading looks decent (some are very large), but it's hard to make an accurate assesment without seeing the beading directly after application.

Yes it is garaged most nights, but used every day. The last prep done on the car was 4/5 weeks previously (10/11 weeks ago) which was a quick coat of PB polish W/carnauba (I'd just received it and wanted a test)

I'll take some pics when I wash it next.

Okay...

My car about a day after applying OCW. True, not the same car but the beading is similar with the small to medium beading size.

I got a full three months of beading and decent slickness with OCW applied over RMG on a gold Lexus SC430 that is garaged at night and parked in the open during the day. Applied in early March, rewaxed in mid June. Car was QEW washed weekly during the time frame and I used no QDs.

I now have it as the LSP on that black CL500 that I convetionally wash once or twice a month and the rest of the time it goes through a tunnel wash. It is a '98 with over 100,000 miles on it so the car is not a garage queen. It will be interesting to see how OCW performs under more demanding conditions than the Lexus did.

After about 5 weeks (my car is outside 24/7) my OCW still beads like those above too, it is a durable product, my LSP of choice!

Yup, some of us are spoiled by Zaino's little tiny beads, but no doubt there is still some protection there.

It would be even more inaccurate to try and judge the beading on two different vehicles (paint, prep, environment, etc.).

It also has nothing to do with Zaino's beading. When beads start becoming flat and large, the product is on it's last leg (IMO).

To me it is simple the smaller the bead the better the protection. Many folks have said it has more to do with surface retention and other factors, but I have never witnesses tight beading from polishing alone, IMO tight beading only comes from protection. You can get beading from polishing but most of those polishes contain oils that are responsible for the beading, but the beads wont last long. And I agree that when the beads are large the protection is on it's last leg.

Those beads are fat, so I'm surprised they're not rolling off all over the car.

How's the slickness?

TBH there wasn't that much slickness to start with, as it hasn't been clayed or properly polished for quite a while. It's a bit neglected - I try to do a bit on it when I've got time.
