OC+OP or M#83

I'm placing an order for one or the other today. Was wondering if the OC+OP does the same job as M#83 or if they would do a better job and be more versatile. I've read the raves on Optimum, but I just want to avoid buying both brands (which I am also tempted to do). Thanks in advance. :holiday:

What type of a machine are you using?

For a DA (like the porter cable), I would recommend:

-Optimum Compound and a cutting pad to correct swirls/scratches.
-Optimum Polish and a polishing pad to correct minor marring and prep your surface for sealer/wax.
-I run the DA @ 5.5
-Don't waste your time trying to correct defects on the PC with Optimum polish. It can be done, but it takes too long, and the compound is much more effective.

For a rotary:

-Optimum Polish and a polish or light cutting pad will knock out 99% of most defects @1400-1500 RPM.

I've had great success with Optimum polishes.

I don't use many Meg's polishes anymore, so I can't offer up much in this area. I know there are lots of folks on the boards that love them, so hopefully someone will jump in.

Thanks mgm! I was leaning towards Optimum and you sound convincing. I am using a 7424 with a light to medium cut pad for compounding and a white polish pad for the polish. i think i'll do OC.

Why would you recommend optimum polish for a DA ? It works 50 times better with an orbital ..
The compound and an orange pad would be great , but I HIGHLY recommend something else after that to finish the polishing .
If you can find a store that carries vanilla moose glaze and OC , that would be a very effective combo .
If you can find a place that carries OC , VMG , AND ex or ex-P+ , that would be good as would optimum spray wax for your lsp .
two or three coats of ex(p) or Optimum wax gets better lookign after each coat .
Optimum polish doesn't work that great on a PC imho ..
P.S. Use the blue pad for your polish , white pad for first layer of sealant and to remove it everything after that by hand as pads waste product .

oh and the compound finishes just as nicely as the polish if moving up a pad grade as well at lower speed for finishing .. :arabia:
