Oarnge peel textured paint

In the sun my car looks pretty much OK except you can tell by the reflections in it that there is an oarnge peel texture to the paint. Is this normal? It's a nissan altima. If it's not normal, would it be realistic to take care of it without a machine?

No, it’s not realistic to remove it without a machine.



IMHO it’s not a good idea to try to remove it from a factory finish at all, but it can be done.



If you search around here you’ll find a gazillion threads on the topic. Do your homework before you even think about picking up a sanding block.

As long as it's normal, I'll just leave it alone. I was just wondering if there was some sort of ridiculous damage due to acid rain or something.
 
seems like all newer cars have orange peel. My Accord and Odyssey have it. AFAIK the only way to deal with it is wet sanding, and I am not ready to go that far. At some point, I will need to get a repaint on the hood and front bumper from road rash. Maybe I will get the body shop to handle it then for me depending on the added cost.

Virtually all paint has orange peel to some degree from the factory. There was a thread a while

back where a guy detailed a Veyron that had absolutely zero orange peel.



Some vehicles will have way more than others.



Just satisfy yourself with a swirl free finish.

Think someone mentioned the other day on here that its mostly because the new paint is water based which tends to not finish as nice. But nicer for the environment I guess.
 
It has mostly to do with the speed at which the paint is applied to the surface.



So a perfectly calibrated machine can in theory paint a surface with no orange peel.

That's a relief. I've also got an 04 M3 in IR with orange peel. Also had a chance to check out some new M3s at the dealership while getting my car worked on. Every last one had peel on it too.
