NXT topped with #26

Ive got a Cypress Green Pearl 98' Honda Civic Coupe. The car was clayed 3-4 weeks ago and polished using the new reformulated Fine-cut cleaner, #9 Swirl remover, and Deep Crystal Pure Polish. I used #26 as my wax to protect all of my work. Tomorrow i'll be heading out to my parents house( I live in a apt. duplex) to detail my car. I'll be washing using the 2 bucket method, Eurow Sheepskin mitt, and Meguiars Gold Class Wash. I will then be using NXT for the first time and using 1-2 coats, removing each coat about 45 min. after applying. To my understanding, it is best to let NXT sit awhile before applying a Carnuba Topper, in my case #26. After waxing with the NXT and removing, if I drive to my Apt. about 5-6 miles way from my parents, wait a few hours, and then quick detail the car, will it be safe/effective to apply #26 a few hours later and when I do is it ok to use Meguiars quick detailer to remove any dust from the drive from home to the Apt.??

You don't need to wait 45 minutes to remove Nxt Wax haze (unless the humidity is 100% and you're in a rain forrest). Just wait long enough for it to pass the swipe test. Run your finger accross the waxed paint. If your finger swipe reveals clear, non streaky paint you can remove the haze. Putting a second coat on immediately is only beneficial in ensuring total coverage. Optimally, waiting 12 hours for a second coat of Nxt (or M20, or M21) is better. You should also wait 12 hours before topping with M26.

(This is what Mike Phillips of Meguiar's told me. He's also posted regarding this senario on MOL.)

The swipe test is enough, but you can experience better durability with some products if you let them on the surface longer.

BTW, NXT/#26 is a KILLER combo!

When you experience dust attraction, wait at least 12 hours before you QD the car. #26 is a blend, so leave it enough time to bond. You can reduce the static when you run a slow, soft stream of water over the whole car next day. Just dry it with a WW and that's it.

Uh-Oh! I followed NXT with Megs 26 without waiting. Looks great 6 weeks later. What downside should I expect?

According to Meguiar's, as long as the sealant or wax is dry when you wipe it off, additional wait time offers absolutely no benefit. This, however is not to be confused with letting LSPs cure. Waiting 12 hours after wiping off Nxt residue is beneficial before applying a second coat.

The only downside you could experience a *slightly* less durability. In real life the differences are negligible though.

STG,

Trust me, I know what Meguiar's say about this, but contrary to their opinion, with certain products you can experience more durability if you leave it on for a longer period of time before removal.

But they don't recommend to wash buffing pads or use the PC @ speed 6. (Little sarcasm... :D)
