Looks awesome! It's great to see #16 getting more exposure these days...it definately deserves it!



What did you use on the tires?
 
I'm curious . . . did you apply NXT, then apply #16 another day after the NXT had a chance to cure, or did you treat NXT as though it were a glaze, and just applied #16 on top with no cure time?

I've heard (and read here in this forum) that s100 has the same durability but better gloss than 16. Have you had the chance to compare the 2?
 
Hi thanks for the replies and comments.....I'm still new to detailing so I havent tried out the S100...but from my friend he said the exact same thing as MarKD. I only let it cured for like 30mins before i applied the 16. I found 16 was kinda hard to remove than the otehr waxes ive been using. Is it better for NXT to cure for a day before i put on 16? thanks

I've not topped NXT with anything else, but I do apply two coats of NXT and always give each layer 24 hours to cure. I have a feeling you don't have to do that with the #16 since NXT is a polymer sealant and #16 is more of a carnauba. Don't take my word for it, though, as I'm relatively new to detailing as well. Maybe someone else can chime in. Car looks great!

It never hurts to let the sealant cure for at least 24 hours. This way it minimizes any type of issues that could arise when you apply a carnauba such as hazing or streaking.



When you do apply the wax as a topper, please be sure to wash the car if you did any driving at all so that you do not re-swirl your car.
 
waiting 24 hours to apply wax over a sealant is usually recommended, although with NXT you might hear different answers. but there is nothing wrong with what you did, in fact it might be a good way to see if doing it that way has any effect on the durability of the wax or NXT.



and for the #16, did you apply thin coats? thin as in you can barely see it? that helps in making removal easy.

I don't know who is saying S100 lasts as long as #16, other than Collinite, I can't think of another carnauba that is as durable.



Personally, I think from doing side by side comparisons, both products are very similar in appearance.

Did the same as you did except I applied two coats of NXT within a week of each other and then waited another week to apply the #16. I believe #16 provides a better sacrificial layer than with just the NXT. Here are my thoughts, the NXT provides paint protection at the microscopic level with the polymer bonding of the paint and the #16 which can build up(streaking is a result of wax build up not properly thinned out) and provides the physical shielded layer against debris and dirt. NXT won't embed dirt like #16 which can occur with traditional waxes over time which must be stripped and reapplied.
