NXT tech wax

Anyone here layer NXT then maybe top w a wax, S100 or PPG ect, just wondering the haze time in between nxt applications? id like to try NXTx2 then top w either S100 or PPG

if your going to top it 1 layer of NXT should be fine- a second layer of NXT might remove some of the first layer due to its slight cleaning ability

i'm wondering about this also...how long to let the wax 'haze' can i wax the whole car with NXT before I wipe it off? or should i do one panel at a time?

I want to put a coat of NXT and follow by #26

I believe the bottle says to do the whole car and remove after 15 minutes. When I was using it, I would occasionally apply it in the evening and remove in the morning. It was still pretty easily removed with an MF after 8hrs+ of drying time.

Ive heard conflicting stories w NXT haze time, most of them have been longer haze time ie 1HR +, bottle just states "let dry to a haze" personally i let haze for 1HR or so, as for a topper of S100 or PPG, ill try and wait a day, otherwise ill just apply another hr or so after NXT has been buffed off?

i usually let it haze and sit for atleast 20 min. or so. Sometimes if the wax hasn't fully dried it leaves some hazy marks after buffing.

Depends on temp and humidity for me....In the summer here in a closed garage I need to wait at least 30-45 minutes for streak free removal. ABout the same in the winter when it is really cold. In the spring time with warmer temps(68-75) and low humidity, 15 minutes is plenty.

FWIW, I would apply two thin coats back to back to ensure full coverage, wait 24 hours, then top with your carnauba.

TS looks great over NXT.

thanx for the tip guys!

i'm going to wash and clay the car. then polish with Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish step 1 and 2. follow by a coat of NXT Tech Wax, wait an hour, put on another coat. I'll wait 24 hours until i top it off with Megs #26.

as you can tell i'm a newbie here...this is going to be my first full detail job.

Putting on a 2nd layer of NXT is a waste of time and product. It will remove the previous coat.

Lay down one coat. Wait, then top iwht #26

I use NXT then coat with either 26 or S100

Both look great. I like the S100 a little better, it just takes a little bit more time than #26.

But both look good.

IMO, two applications ensures complete coverage, I do it with all lsp's.

Not according to Meguiars. Although NXT has specialized cleaners, a second coat isn't going to remove more product than it lays down.

I normally only apply one coat myself although 2 thin coats will make sure you don't miss anything.

I have read here that 24 hrs is best before putting on #26 or any carnauba.

what about if you already have 2 coats of NXT & #16, when you wash your car again, can you just use the NXT booster wax - or will that take off the #16? Or in a month or two, when I need to wax again - can I just use NXT? or do I need to do NXT & #16 combo?

It couldn't hurt. I waited a couple hours before I put on my #26 and I think it would have come out better if i waited. I think the solvents in the #26 will break up the NXT if it hasn't cured long enough. You might be able to get away with a shorter cure time if you use a paste carnauba since there are really no solvents.

For paste: Meg's #16 (if you can find it) or S100 (best bet locally is a motorcycle shop)

The cured product has different properties than unprotected paint. The NXT should layer fine after curing for 1 day. The cleaners in NXT are specific for paint, not the polymer content of cured NXT.:xyxthumbs

24 hours between coats of NXT and topping.

2 layers of NXT looks noticeably better than 1.

NXT isn't strong enough to remove a layer of itself that's already cured.
