NXT Tech wax going to hurt detailers?

~One man’s opinion~

I’ve been detailing cars since the ‘40s but still have the last 98% to learn about it. The thing I was taught then and remain true today ~

“The professionally detailed cars have a better finish because of a preparation process, not products. If it were only product, there wouldn't be an automobile detailing profession, because anyone can buy any product a professional can. But we can’t do what you do. :bow

So I don’t think the detailing profession has anything to worry about from a new product (I still remember when Autoglym Resin products came out (‘60s) the same comments where made) but professionals are still making a living.

As an aside from detailing, you can buy software very inexpensively to do Architectural design but Architects still make a living :xyxthumbs

Experience unshared; is knowledge wasted…/

Mike that is a brilliant post & whilst I use many other products over here in the UK both from the US & the UK it was probably the discovery of Megs products over here that really started me trying other brands rather than the chain store cheapies, so I guess I have a lot to thank them for.

I for one can't wait to get my hands on NXT, 'cos if Mike's raving about it, it must be a bit special.

Will we get it in the UK & when?

All photos were taken with my trusty Sony FD97 2.1 megapixel camera and have not been touch-up in any manner.

The deck lid shots are full size, I merely used Lview Pro to crop out a 500 x 500 pixel section. Thus it's raw footage.

Don't waste your time even pointing this out, Mike. If you are not using products that some here consider 'acceptable' any photo you post is subject to speculation on whether you got the results through detailing or through photo manipulation. ;)

I know some on this board have seen your work in person, so I have no reason to suspect any pictures you post to be anything less than the actual representation of your work. :xyxthumbs

Never underestimate the lazyness of the general public.

Besides, it hasn't officially rolled out yet and and there is going to be a professional version (from what I understand there will be some differences), so there isn't enough information or testing on either version. Meguiars makes some truly excellent products and a few are barely adequate (their consumer clay comes to mind). How NXT will stack up against the rest of the Meguiars line remains to be seen.

Interesting, I wonder when they will roll out a professional version and what the differences will be?? Looking at the current consumer and professional lines will give me a clue I guess.

I am real excited about NXT Tech, don't get me wrong. And I know it won't turn the lazy public into detailers all of a sudden (heck, my neighbors tell me to just leave my car parked in the garage since I am soooo concerned about getting it dirty, lol). I guess if it protects a small number of cars better out there, then we will be all the better for it if we go to buy a used car.

Goodness, I did SFP, SEC, #20, and then S100 on my car yesterday and it looks like a dream. With the way Mike is talking, the NXT might provide the depth to eliminate the use of the s100 for me. Ahhh, probably not, I will put all of it on my car anyway. :D

I was just thinking, most of the good products have always been a little hard to find or available online. I mean, who looks for s100 at Harley Davidson if you are not a hard core detailer?? With NXT rolling out, with all of the hype saying that it will be a synthetic better than the very good #20. I have to wonder, with that good of polymer available to anyone who walks into Walmart, will it hurt detailers who use "special" stuff they find with substantial effort?

As a person that just does my car and some friends every so often, I love to be able to bring out that secret stuff. Hate to pull out something they can get from Walmart, lol.

I think no matter how good a otc product is, it wont effect the high end detailers. CC are the best thing that happened to the industry, it takes skills to deal with these. Just a thought.
