NXT Tech WAX COMPARED TO #20

It is good to know that Meguiars has been listening to wit a polymer that can fill. This will save the number of polishing required.

Layering ,well I just love to top. I mean cream, nuts with a cherry on top. Maybe NXT is the cherry.

BTW: I recall Forrest saying that on some of his cars his final step was Mother's sealer glaze.

BTW: Mike thanks for the infor. Each time I read your post I learn not only about the product in question but also about the process.

Thanks for the reply Mike. I have a couple of cusstomers who seem to think that if I put 3-4 layers of wax on their cars it will protect for several months. I try to explain to them that in my own experience than 2 coats aren't that much more durable than a single coat...maybe 10% more durability. I did this on my own car several years ago, putting two coats of #26 on one side of my hood and a single coat on the other. The single coat side beaded about 10 weeks and the 2 coat side a day past 11 weeks.

personally, I dont layer wax over my zaino to have water bead. I know it will anyway with regular care. I layer wax over Z because it looks good!

I can be happy doing it weekly.

That's one of my points.

After you have reached a certain level of quality for your car's finish, adding more and more layers/applications doesn't really make it look better and better and better, it just ->maintains<- the level of quality you have previously attained.

Maintaining this level of achievemnet is more enjoyable for you, and for many Autopians versus neglecting the finish to the point to where you have to start over with the cleaning and defect removal procedures.

That's why I often quote my friend Jack Anderson, when I say,

"Find something you like and use it often"

If you like a product, then apparently it looks good in your eyes. If you use this product often, then your paint will always look good.

Just the act of rubbing/wiping/applying your favorite company's creamy, liquid lotion over your car's finish has a "Polishing-Action".

I met a guy once that only used Turtle Wax on his old Ford Bronco. Whether you like Turtle wax or not, isn't a factor, he did, and his old Bronco always looked great.

I met another man back in 1989 at a car show who owned a black hot rodded Model A. This guy was in his 60’s and told me he had owned his Model A for 25 years. I noticed his finish looked incredibly dark and reflective. As he was standing amongst his peers in group b.s. session, I approached him and asked him what he used to get his finish to look so good.

Now mind you, I was standing their in full Meguiar’s attire, and in the back of my mind, I had a great fear he was going to whip out a bottle of one of our competitor's waxes in front of all these people and embarrass me. But his finish impressed me so much, that I didn't care if I was embarrassed, I wanted to know his "Secret".

The old man reached into his car and pulled out an old maroon bottle of Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax.

I can't tell you how relieved I was, and at the same time, how impressed I was. He told me after having it painted, and waiting for the paint to cure,

"This is the only thing I have ever used"

Find something you like and use it often.

His finish was a single-stage paint. It was probably Acrylic Lacquer, but it might have been Acrylic Enamel, but either way, after years of touching his finish with a smooth, creamy product, in other words, after years of caringly and lovingly applying and removing this one product to his baby’s finish, he had achieved a crystal clear, liquid black, mirror finish.

Adding more and more layers of your favorite product doesn’t add more and more layers of protection; it maintains the level, or plateau your have previously achieved.

And… it keeps your finish looking great.

Find something you like and use it often is good advise and sage wisdom.

Shine versus protection comments:

On our toys, we use no wax - after prepping the surface to remove spiderwebbing (a Mothers professional product like Mike's #9 v 2.0 or DACP), we use only our Sealer and Glaze. It's applied with foam pads in a back and forth motion, and removed while still damp with a MF towel.

There's no reason to put wax on a vehicle that isn't exposed to the elements on a daily basis. It's a waste of time and product.

Check the ol' gloss meter out - glaze alone is better than glaze then a wax.
