NXT Spray wax. . .on wheels?

I have a 2004 M3 , and washed it yesterday, and I had used p21s paintwork cleanser/zymol creame on it on may 21st, and it was stil looking great and all, but I had an impulse buy of that nxt spray wax at the store the other day, so I put that on, and really enjoyed the results, very fast to use, gave the color that "quick pop" i've read so much about, and renewed the silky smoothness.

Now to the wheels. . . I gotta tell you, you would be hardpressed to find a vehicle that creates more brake dust than this car does. What's going to happen is within the first 25 miles of driving, they are going to be back to looking like gunmetal wheels, when they are not, they're the oem 18's. I wanted to know if it is safe to use this product on my wheels, and will it help any the next time I goto clean them off?

Also, I would like to know what the best wheel "wax" there is, in aiding cleaning the next time around.

Thanks in advance.

ps: I will post pictures in the click n brag section fairly soon.

Personally, I don't think the NXT Spray Wax will last very long on wheels. It is a booster wax for short-lived results.

I have excellent results with Meg's #20 and Meg's NXT Wax on my wheels. I did a comparison of the two, and at 4 weeks they were both still going strong. The longest I've gone without re-doing them out of sheer habit/boredom is that 4 weeks. Main difference I found between them is #20 has much more cleaning ability. This can be a nice thing on rims even after they've been cleaned/polished. NXT's cleaning ability is about zip to none on my rims.

I have not noticed any difference in appearance between #20 and NXT on my Maxima SE's stock rims. They both leave the surface glossy and slick.

Both make cleaning nothing more than a quick wipedown with car wash shampoo. And I've noticed the brake dust doesn't get nearly as bad or as quick.

Others have posted great results with Klasse AIO and some others. I don't have any personal experience with them, though. Maybe someone else can chime in.

A sealant is the best choice and you can follow with a liquid synthetic wax after curing time for the sealants.

Poorboys EXP followed by Wolfgang twice and Omikron Wax is what I am using on my dad's new car. Carnauba spray wax probably wouldn't last very long.

It's great for glass though.

as far as the tires.. i use 303 aerospace on my dads m5, and he loves it, as it does not produce that glossy look, but the dark black matte finish... for the wheels, ive been putting 3-4 coats of nxt wax on them, but im going to switch to klasse sg as i have heard good things about it on wheels...

The main reason I have been apprehensive about using the reg nxt on my wheels is that I heard it has mild cleaners in it, and I'm not sure how the paint on the wheels will hold up to that. . .should I be worried bout usin that on my wheels?

303 is great stuff, been usin it for a while now, and love it. Flat black finish that lasts a long time.

I will have to try klasse also, thanks for the help everyone.

You don't have to worry about the "mild cleaners" in NXT harming the paint on your wheels. Like I said in my above post, the cleaning ability of NXT on my rims is about zip to none. Any cleaning that is done is probably more a result from rubbing the applicator on the surface than it is from any chemical cleaning. These are my observations from using NXT on my car (and rims) since February. #20 on the other hand, does clean my rims pretty effectively. It is great for a quickie when I don't have time for polishing, but there may be some brake dust residue left from after washing.

I believe it was on 303's site (www.303products.com I believe) that suggested apply 303 Protectant to rims, also. Supposedly keeps brake dust from sticking. Since I sometimes use 303 on my tires (I alternate products as my mood fits), I'll try it on my rims next time I redo them from scratch.

You might give Optimum Car Wax a try. Not only does it have UV absorbers, it is a combination of #1 carnauba and polymer waxes & extremely durable. The Klasse might be more durable (I haven't tried it yet), but the Optimum is a spray application and very easy to use. I assume you're talking about painted/clear coated wheels?
