NXT - Slickness issue (again)

I've been using NXT over VM now and being a total fanatic, I do the treatment to all 5 of my cars every week if the weather permits. I'm absolutely convinced that the combo is the best in looks I've ever used. My son's black Prelude almost caused a min-riot at his pre-prom get together (basically a picture taking session for parents before the kids leave for the prom). Honestly, his car was so stunning that even parents were stopping at it parked along the street to gawk! The problem is, I skipped last week's ritual on my red CRV and so it went two weeks before I washed it tonight. I used Eagle One Wet car wash it the prescibed amount (1oz per gallon of water). When I finished the car looked beautiful but I was dumbstruck when I ran my hand over the hood to discover that there was no sign of any slickness. It felt like a car that had just been Dawn washed and stripped of all wax. I noticed it beaded very little when I rinsed it but figured it was sheeting. I was able to use Zaino Z6 with a PakShak ultra microfiber to get a good slickness back, but I've very confused...was all the NXT gone or just lost all of it's slickness? I'm a bit concerned that even if the NXT is still there, it may not provide must of a barrier to bird poop, etc. Any thoughts (besides the fact that I've managed to ramble way too long?) LOL
 
That seems odd. :confused: I've been using NXT for a while now and I usually wash my car at least twice a week and it's still slick after that. I love the fact that the water simply sheets off the car. I hardly use the CWB when drying her.



A similar thing that happened to me couple of week ago, people couldn't believe how shiny my car was compared to other cars, even with the same color.



One thing that got me frustrated and got me asking the same question was when my car got hit with bird crap and of course it left an impression on the paint. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening, with any waxes out there?????

Try using Gold Class Car Wash after waxing, I haven't ued the Eagle One Wet Car wash, but there is something to sticking with products inside a system, ask any Zaino user.

I normally use QEW when washing and while NXT isn't normally glass slick after 3-4 weeks, it is still very smooth to the touch and beads nicely. In fact, today, I washed two vehicles that I had used NXT on when I first got it towards the end of January. Both cars were still beading nicely and while the paint was smooth, you could tell NXT was getting towards the end of its useful life. I ended up rewaxing one of the vehicles today (black S500) again with NXT because my customer asked me to use the same thing as I used on it last time because he loved the way it looked.



BTW, no product can protect 100% against bird droppings. It will eat through any carnauba or synthetic if you leave it on the paint....especially if the bird ate berries.
 
dlw, how did the car look after the wash? That's what really will let you know if it's still there.

I'm sure it would be a big difference if NXT where gone.
 
I noticed the exact same problem with using Wolfgang and Meguiar's car wash strips. The paint looked great, but had lost all slickness and no longer beaded (after only 2 washes).



Next wash was with Zaino car wash followed by Wolfgang QD, and bam, there was the beading and slickness back.



I wish Wolfgang car wash was a little cheaper, because it is awesome.



I have noticed that the Meguiar's car wash strips are great for an unwaxed car. They clean very well and leave a nice shine, but on waxed cars they make the surface sticky while drying.
 
I could say the same thing about the Z5 x4 that I still have on the tailgate and roof the rest has since been gone over with NXT.I'm sure it's still there but isn't all that slick anymore even after a QD with Z6.I'd say it's been about 3 or 4 weeks since last applied.
 
That's why I feel that it's best to use a car wash that matches the sealant or wax. They were developed to work with each other and extend the life and properties of the sealant/wax.
 
I find that whatever wash I use, even QEW I always get diminished slickness afterwards. After a QD the slickness returns. Thats why I was so excited about the EO WAUD because it kept me from having to QD.



I'm getting about a month of good slickness from NXT and then it backs off. Once I get a few hours of free time I'm going to do the Lexus all over with Wolfgang topped with #16 and see how that fares.
 
Wouldnt the Eagle one WAUD diminish, or possibly cloud a superior finish?



I have noticed when using NXT wash, even over NXT polished surface that the water kinda "sticks" and the slickness diminishes, even after 1 week. I was starting to wonder if my products were bad, but i guess its common?
 
I used p21s and it was slick for couple of days, after rainstorm the water beaded but slickness is gone? not impressed by the product but I'll try it again

All kidding aside, my experience has been that although slickness and water-repellency are not the strongest suits of this product, it does seem last longer than I initially thought (about 3 weeks). After further washing my car again a few times, it seems to have made somewhat of a 'come-back' (or is my frame of reference starting to get lowered?) and I would guestimate that it would last about 2 months on my (former) black car.



DLW, while I agree that NXT is easy to use and leaves a very nice shine, if the ABSOLUTE best looking shine is what you are looking for, why not use a product like Pinnacle Souveran or P21S? After using NXT for a while, I decided I was done experimenting with it and switched back to P21S. The only prep I did was a light application of their paint cleanser followed by the carnauba wax. When I finished, I pulled the car out into the sun and was completely stunned at how much better this product looked! Durability MAY be a concern if you need something that lasts more than a month, but in that case, a product like Meguiar's #16 or #26 might work better.

Well..... I do have 3 bottles of it... plus the spray wax plus the protectant... and I'd have the shampoo if I could find it locally.



And I use it on about 50% of the cars I detail. But I'm a hater so what do I know, right??

I don't know why you bother, I have not heard you say anything particularly nice about any product line except Zaino and maybe Klasse. I mean seriously, if you are using a product that in your words "Bye bye oils........all it takes is one wash." on 50% of the cars you detail, you must not like those people or something.



It really gets old with the subtle Meguiars bashing on the board.

The product is what it is, Scott. It either stands up to scrutiny or it doesn't.



I like it enough to use it on customer's cars and they're happy with the results. As for the rest of the personal stuff you mentioned, feel free to place me on your Ignore list if my thoughts and opinions bother you. At least I'm not here to win a popularity contest by showing off with endless pics of the cars I detail.

Not quite. I like detailing, I like photography, I like helping others. I always list the products and methods I use. Maybe if I used Zaino though, I would be popular with you, eh? :p

Agreed! If the product looses its beading ability and slickness after one wash then its not that great of a product in my mind! With zaino and klasse the paint is still beading strong wash after wash, shouldn't all sealants be like that? Also Scott, how do you tell if your customers car is still beading if you never use a hose on it?:confused:
