NXT.... beading.

Well, as any one in SoCal knows, lots of rain lately. These are shots of my wife's Liberty to show long term beading. Car was NXTed 2-10-04. There have been 5 major REALLY HARD rain days since. Car sits outside 24/7.

My car after about a month since NXT was applied. 9 days of rain, 1 day of snow, washed twice during that time.



I applied it around January 25th and took the pic last Wednesday (February 25th).

NXT may bead fine after rain, but it doesn't stand up to salt very well, IMO. My two coats of NXT are shot after only two weeks. No snow during that time; just a lot of melt-off that still had salt mixed in.



Beading on the top surfaces has started to break down . . . what was on the doors appears to be completely gone. I'll know more after I can do a proper wash this weekend, but so far, I'm putting NXT with my other "beauty" products (i.e., easy to use, looks good, so-so to poor durability). This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I had expected more than just a couple of weeks from it, even in harsh conditions. For now, it finds a place next to EX, and Pinnacle Souveran Liquid on my shelf. Fine for summer use when the weather is nice and I want to apply something every couple of weeks, but for winter use in the salt belt, I wouldn't recommend it.

:nixweiss Every car I have applied NXT on is still beading and that goes back 6 weeks now. Decent slickness too. No road salt, but they use some sand/??? mix in the Dallas metromess when it snows (luckily, just once) and we had a very wet February. I am getting considerably more than 3 months beading from Carnauba Moose, so I will be very disappointed if NXT doesn't last at least as long....but determining that will take a few more months.
 
NXT lasted about 3 weeks on the areas of my car that were exposed to salt & rain splash, my hood and roof were still beading decently. The sides of my car got splashed the day after applying it, so I don't know if it was fully cured or not.



I love NXT's wet look sheen on my white vehicle, but lasting beading has disappointed me. Can NXT really last longer than #20 & #26?:nixweiss
 
It seemed to only last two weeks up against the salt. Maybe less than that. After one wash it seemed to be almost gone. My car was totally white from all the salt, before the wash. After the second wash, it definitely had no slickness, and the swirls that had been filled in came back. This seems to work like the Gold Class protectant, great product for a quick awesome shine, in the summer months. But not meant for durability in the winter.



-I am not trying to bash Meguiars. This is a great easy to use product, that is worth every penny. I will definitely use it in the summer, when I can apply some every 2-4 weeks. I just wish it would last longer in the winter, up against the four or five inches of salt we have on the roads, mixed with oil and gasoline, that is not washed away by the rain we aren't getting.
 
Got to wash the WRX yesterday, and I was disappointed and annoyed. Not only was the slickness from my 2 coats of NXT pretty much gone, but none of the dirt was releasing from the car. I took it to a spray bay prior to using QEW . . . dirt and salt was stuck to the paint like glue. This has not been the case in the past when I've used other products; usually, I can get a pretty clean car just from the pressure washer (which I then follow up with QEW, or S&W for light dirt). The QEW wash went poorly, too; it was like washing car that had no protection on it. The QEW solution clung to the surface, making it very hard to dry the car.



My bottle of NXT is close to being banished to the back of the shelf. Between this reaction on my car, and the severe smearing I had when using it on a blue Miata on Saturday, its stock is dropping rapidly in my book.

I have found the same thing with dirt sticking to NXT. I had some minor tar and some black dirt that really took some hard rubbing with a sheepskin to get off, this was 2 weeks after applying and the first wash.



Dirt sticks to Zaino a lot too, along with dust, but it washes off effortlessly.



I am beginning to think NXT is a "looks" only product, well along with easy to use to.
 
It's been about 3 weeks since I've applied NXT and beading from the horizontals panels is completely gone. In fact, it's 'pooling' the water when I wash....not even sheeting. Oh and slickness is completely gone. (Guess this means the product is protecting "better", right? :rolleyes: )



I get better durability from carnauba's like #26 and S100. NXT does a satisfactory job in the looks and usability department, but it is by no means durable the way the makers claim it is. I'm returning this stuff! :down
 
I do have the same problem with NXT. Looks very good, easily to apply, but dirt seems to stick to the paint and durability is an issue. Today is snowing and ill check on the beading after work. Guess its going to be used only in summer time for me. back to SGx10000 for my car.
