Went to Wallyworld and purchased the new Turtle Wax Ultragloss liquid wax and to Advanced Auto and bought NXT. Did 3 Honda CRV's, silver & dark green and Milano red. Here's my quick take...
Turtle wax Ultra Gloss, not bad at all for around $8.00. Went on really easy and came off just as easy. On the dark green I did half the hood with TW and half with NXT. TW side looks really good, but the NXT side is very obviously darker, slicker and way more wet looking. The TW is some really nice stuff, finally a product from them that I'd actually use on something that I just wanted a nice quickie on.
NXT....best gloss and wetness I've ever seen on any of my cars, and slick as Zaino ever was for me. I'm still not completely sold due to a few things I didn't like. I'm used to Zaino and Souveran so I know what "thin" application means, so I'm sure that is not the problem, but the NXT was much harder to apply (used Meg's supplied foam applicator) & remove than Zaino or Souveran, close to Meg Gold Class in effort, which doesn't thrill me at all. I also had a very mild streaking problem on the dark car's hoods that took a bit of extra effort to overcome. The most striking thing I found was that regular MF towels were OK, but my Pakshack Ultra MF was really hard to work with to remove the NXT. It was like it was clinging a lot to the NXT, making for a lot of effort to remove the polish. The good news was that I tried my DF microfiber and it worked really well, cut the effort by about 80% I figure.
Now before anyone starts on the "prep" issue, I assure you that I am a fanatic. All three cars were dawn washed to remove the VM and Souveran they had on them and were very swirl free due to a lot of PC work done before the VM/Souveran. The temperatue here was about 55 degree F so the harder removal was not due to hot surfaces, but that does concern me for using NXT this summer.
All in all, I liked the NXT but I'm pretty tired due to the extra removal effort required. I know I'm spoiled by Pinnacle, but I'm still gonna give the NXT a go for a bit because the end result was real nice. The streaking did concern me most I think and it got a little dark out when I finished so I'm gonna have to look see tomorrow in the sunlight for a good feel for the results.
