Nu Finish

I'm wondering why NuFinish is mentioned much.

It's very popular over on Miata.Net, but not here.

I've been using it on my Miata with great results.

Thanks for any education on the subject.

Well, NuFinish is a good product if you want to do the basics on your car. it's good for people who want to protect their cars, but are not after the "perfect shine" from their cars (as most true autopians do).



You'll find in your surfing here, the variety of products and techniques vary, depending on what you're trying to achieve.

Besides the fact that Nufinish stains trim and the highly advertised protection did not live up to expection during the guru wax report. If I recall correctly meg #26 lasted longer.



IMHO: I have used Nufinish and Klasse AIO. Klasse AIO is eaiser to use, does not stain trim, last about three months and is a great prep for other products.

I think Detail King posted a thread a long time ago showing the cleaning ability of various products, and Nu Finish was one of the harshest. ie. more paint came off from a non-clearcoated finish. So I think it would be good to restore old, neglected finishes, but over the long term, might be a bit harsh on the paint.
 
My uncle used NuFinish on his 1980 Citation for years. The car still looks brand new, however the wax turned his shiney gold paint to a dull copper color after awhile. I convinced him to switch to something else and the color is returning to normal again. I think he is using Meguiars now.

The short story is, it's "okay" for Joe Average who hates waxing his car very often, but as said, it stains trim, STINKS, isn't all that durable, and for the same or little more money you can do better.
