now that #16 is gone

From what I have seen the #16 gives quite clear look and thakes on the look off what is under it. From what I can see the reason why people really like #16 is down to its durabilty.



Looks wise IMO P21s and Nattys look very alike to it. As for duarabilty as Steve has said Blitz is a heavy type wax so it should be up there with the #16.



#26 gives a darkening and deeping effect to the paint, not the more clear look off the #16.



In the Uk we are told the #16 will still remain so if you really love it im sure you can just import like us guys do with most off our waxes.



Durability aside, looks wise I much prefer Souveran, P21s and Clearkote's Carnuba Moose wax anyway.
 
As Bill D stated, if you can call around and find a local marine store, you may be able to find Collinite IW 845 wax. I have used both and *IMO* IW is 10x easier to use than #16, *IMO* IW looks better than #16, and I have found with my expierence that IW lasts longer for me than #16. P21S/S100 maybe a good alternative to #16 but it doesnt have the durability that #16 is known for.



And as others has suggested, #26 is prolly the closet thing to #16 in Meg's lineup.

Blitz can be a royal pain to get off and can also stain trim. There's a reason why many have moved on from the OG Blitz craze of years gone by.



Sure 16 was a good wax but there are plenty of excellent alternatives out there. Don't be afraid to try some of the Poorboy, Clearkote, Pinnacle, Meguiars (No. 26, NXT) products that are available.



In some ways, consider No. 16 demise a good thing. It allows you to go out an experiment and try out some new things. You might just be pleasantly surprised at some of the newer products!

In about a year from now when nobody has any #16, I suspect some will pay the same price as "Souveran" $70 for only 8oz, or even $100+



I spoke to a Meguiar's rep. and he told me under proper storage #16 shelf life is 6 years.



BTW, PakShak still has a few cases of #16 in stock.

Well, I've been using it for a while and I don't find it to be a"royal pain" to get off at all; I also don't find it to stain trim any worse than many other carnaubas; I recommended Blitz because IMHO it most closely matches #16 in application, removal, durability and look. And as a plus it smells better, too! Blitz Wax is a great product, even if you don't find it to be"trendy" enough! :)
 
Blitz was my first "premium" wax and indeed it looks very good. Take your pick: Blitz or #16. In addition to the site I indicated, I found if you search for Meguiars products in general, there are actually a handful of sites that still lsit it. Probably would need to call first.
 
You might want to consider Finish Kare Pink Wax. If you've never tried it, it's worth a look. I've found that it lasts a bit longer than most paste waxes, and I like the look/slickness of it too.

Agreed. I hate the smell but I love the results.

I'd also throw in a recommendation for 3M Perfect-it Show Car paste wax in the tin.



Gets no play here, but a nice product.
 
I was able to get my hands on a can of Blitz and it is a great product to apply and take off and a real sweet shine:eek: I won't know about the durability for awhile but initial feelings are:xyxthumbs

I asked FK about the bad odor, and they said they've tried to add various fragerances, but they evaporate due to the high temp's used during the manufacturing process. I love the results, so I overlook to solvent smell.

Since #16 will still be sold in Europe, I'd just ask one our UK members to send me some and reimburse him/her + a little extra for the trouble. But i think the fanatics who would consider paying extra $ for a tin would have already stockpiled enough to last them for decades.

I like the 3M also. I used it once, as a topper over NXT x 2 on a medium metallic gray E320. It darkened the paint a little, which I liked a lot and it wasn't overly shiny. Durability was abysmal though. Maybe it didn't react well with NXT. Who knows. But like I said before, very nice look.:)

Don't worry, Lou - the durability is excellent. Though some may not believe it, my wife's Mazda was still beading water 61/2 weeks after applying Blitz (w/out QDing). On other cars, I've gotten at least 4 months. :)

how does nxt paste compare to #16?

one place i called looking for #16 said that nxt was the replacement wax
 
I went into a local auto parts store today and bought the last 4 cans of #16 today.



Does anyone have a recommended way to apply #16?
