Not such a good day!

Hi everyone!

Well, I had my worst day yet as a detailer today. These past couple weeks have been awesome, I got a contract with a large company in NC and a guaranteed detailing day out there once a week. They also went ahead and purchased about $3,000 in business insurance for me and a mobile oil change guy so we could be thier vendors. Anyhoo, today was my first day out there, and I had a couple express details that turned out to be full details. I had a black 99 accord that was a swirly mess, and I couldn't just use a cleaner wax on it, had to smr2.5 it and get it right. Took me and my asst waaaaay to long to get it lookin right. So next we take on a 98 Avalon, even worse. So we're bustin it out, I'm about to start buffing when a gust of wind hits out 10x20 tent, rips out two poles which in turn fall and scratch the side of the Avalon three times down to the primer! If I was flexible enough I would have kicked myself in the head at that point. Also, it happened to be a senior VP's car there. Nice. Anyway, he was really cool about it, and the intermediary company who got me the contract was cool and is helping me find a body shop to come out and give him an estiimate for my insurance. So what was supposed to be a great day turned out to be an absolutely crappy one. Just venting, hope you guys had a better day.

Sorry to hear that :(
Life throws things in our path like that and we just have to plow through them and come out the other side.

Man sad to hear that! But its great that you have so much business. I'm still trying to find a place for next week's meet up. I will make sure to PM/Contact ya. Tried out my PC so I'm pretty happy so far! (Report tomorrow after a big detail) :)

yikes bad news indeed!

Not sure what kind of tent your using.. i use a EZup tent and a gust of wind blew my tent over as well. I was fortunate that nothing happened. After that incident i now use 2 umbrella anchors from cost plus, they are 25lb flat sheet metal with a post in the middle. You can drive over them all you want. Dont have pics, but if you like i can take a few.

:( Bummer!
Not to be negative about things, but your experience should be required reading for all the budding detailers.
Not all business deals are great and being prepared for some of the pitfalls is very important.

Thats a bummer and a good lesson for everyone that uses pop ups. Make sure you weigh them down somwhow. Hope everything works out for you ABC.

HahaHAHAHAHAHA thats all you can do with that brother laugh it off let it go things could have been worse.Look at is as a test anyone can detail the easy ones.I think we all could give a couple horror stories.

bad things happen, even to good people.
Be thankfull for the insurance.
Use this as a learning experience, and move forward, don't let it get you down.
