Not satisfyed with swirls, what to do

I recently purchased a dark blue '96 Miata, and at the time I only had the weekend after I bought it avalible to detail it, so I just washed it off, used a meguiars mirror glaze polish to get rid of some swirls, then put on a layer of Z-1 polish lok and a layer of Z-2 pro after that. But over the week I've noticed the megs mirror glaze polish was probably too coarse of a polish to end with, so I wanted to run over the car with an orbital and megs swirl remover 2.0 over this weekend, but I'm wondering if it's acceptible to polish the car with the swirl remover, then keep going with the Z-2 pro, or if I have to start all over with the polish lok. What do you guys think?
 
Well the Mirror Glaze Polish is not a swirl remover, and it isnt abrasive.



What kind of towel and applicator did you use, and what is your washing method?



I would goto Lowes and buy a PC and order some backing plates from Autopia car care or another online vendor.



Then with some polishes, abrasives, you can tackle these swirls.
 
If you like Meguiar's products, get their #80 Speed Glaze. It'll remove the marring and it works fine by hand or PC.



FWIW, the term "Mirror Glaze" is a bit confusing as it's the name of a *line* of Megiuar's products. I think we're all assuming you're referring to the #7. If so, that's actually a *nonabrasive* product, as opposed to being "too coarse". The "swirl remover 2.0" I'm assuming is their #9. It might be too mild for what you're trying to do. I don't mean to bust your chops about the terminology, just trying to clarify things a little.



Oh, and there might be some bonding issues using the Zaino over top of the Meg's stuff. The Meguiar's products all leave the "trade secret oils" behind. An alcohol/water mix or a strong wash should take care of that.
 
Well, what I was using was definately abrasive. I forget the number, but it was a 7 or 8 on the cutting scale on the front of the bottle. And yeah, I know megs products supposedly leave fillers behind, but I've never had any trouble using Zaino over them. If I have the time I might wash the car again once I polish this time, but do you think I should just go with the Z-2 pro after I polish, or give it another layer of polish lok?
 
It might have been #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish.



That is a 6 ,i believe, on the scale.



If it is, it doesnt break down too well by hand.



Unless you have a PC i would just use ScratchX, it does a good job by hand.
