not happy with the shine, gloss of the megs MFDA system... suggestions?

Although the system does work great for me so far, and is very quick and easy, Im not totally satisfied with the end result as far as gloss and shine. I even top it with polycharged 845. Don't get me wrong, it looks good, just not jaw droping, I was wondering what your suggestions are to fix this. Should I maybe apply a fine polish after the 300 before applying the 301?

What type of vehicle did you use it on. How did you work the D301 (arm speed, tool speed, number of passes, pressure)?

I agree...actually I have been using the MF pads with 105, which gives unbelievable cut, and follow up 205. For me, it is my new "go to" combo.

It dosent seem to matter what vehicle its on same results...I.E. Black lexus, Grey Yukon, Green Honda... I worked the 301 just as all the forums suggest, I believe its correct because there are no flaws left. The cut isnt the problem, that part does great

Thanks everyone for the responses... ya, I dont really like the finishing wax, however.... The one advantage it has IMO is that you can apply it everywhere! It does awesome on window trim, bumpers, windows, black plastic, pretty much everywhere and its so easy to get off



Im thinking I'll try the 205 suggestion... I havnet used 105 or 205 with the pads yet, so maybe I'll give it a shot. I have tried Ultimate Compound with the cutting pad, I still dont know how similar 105 is to UC.
 
One more thing... I am using both a GG 6in and GG 3in DA... with their backing plate... Do I need to get the Megs one??? How much of a difference will that make? I know it has more flexibility for curves and all, but...........If its not necessary, I'd rather not

Yup, d300 and 105. Many of us find it gives more cut and just "works" as Auto Concierge would say. It keeps 105 easy to remove.



As far as LSP, that really doesnt matter, because I follow the step d300+105 with 205 and tangerine, and depending on the finish, i follow it with 205 and a finishing pad.



But the lsp i do use is now blackfire wet diamond, menz powerlock, or a carnuba.

Ok. Just wanted to make sure you were not over working the product, as that can diminish the finish a little. D301 should go on a lot like applying a wax with a DA. Speed 3, light pressure, faster arm movement and only a couple passes. I think D301 look very good on most paints, nice wet gloss to it.



FWIW, I have yet to use D301 to finish a clients car. D301 is geared for production work, and while it is great for that, I know that a dedicated finishing polish on a foam pad is going to give better end results, which is what I want for my clients. If and when I get a client wanting a quick polishing job you can bet D300/D301 will be my go to combo though. ;)
 
I remember when we first got in D300, the very first thing I was eager to try was toning down 105's dust and removal problems by priming with D300. Works the same on foam as well.

I feel M105 dusts considerably less on the MF pads even without D300...
 
I agree 100% I think its probably the open and closed cell foams allow the abrasives to dry and fall out of suspension whereas the MF pads keep it in relative liquid form. I really enjoy D300 as a setup for M105 compounding.
