Not for those with weak a stomach

I don't think anyone is arguing that a rotary is the quickest way to remove serious paint defects. What we're all saying is we would have gone a step further and either removed the holograms from the rotary, or wouldn't have put them there to begin with. It is certainly not difficult to remove swirls/scratches with a rotary and *not* leave the paint looking like that, it just requires a little extra skill.

Also, you're mainly referring to beaters, which this car clearly is not.

"what would you do to repair this type of damage?" first off its not damage (well depends on how you look at it), its a prosedure (A series of steps taken to accomplish an end finsh) rotery holograms are real easy to buff out comes out real easy with a PC. Take a old car that has been negelected that has lots of scratches and paint defects the best way to repair the paint is with a Rotery. you can take it a step farther if needed and wet sand first and then use a rotery and finsh off with the PC. Doing this procedure is time consuming. Also this prosedure is the best way to get a mirror image on a new painted car.

On most of the replys on this thread: If you don't understand don't be so neurotic, I know you guys love your cars on how great it looks but old beat up cars is not worth the trouble or worrying about and beleave me there is lots of negected cars out there as you know. And restoring those beat up old cars takes a prosedure (A series of steps taken to accomplish an end finsh) and the fastest way of doing it is with a rotery on restoring old beat up cars.

There is Detailers that just detail nice cars and there is Detailers that restore beats up old cars and detailing beat up old cars cost sometimes more then the car is worth so people only spend so much on having there car detailed. Sample take a beat up car its value is $2000.00 to restore the car would cost $600.00 + So if $100.00 is spent in detailing a beat up car well like others has said use a paint cleaner, glaze and so on...... not worth the trouble worrying about.

This is almost laughable, it is like a reply on AIM. U no the 1s that look two good too b tru? LMAO

Your logical is flawed, period.

I am done feeding the trolls.

General Lee, thanks for the posting the pics. We should keep these pics handy for when someone asks what a hologram/buffer swirl looks like.

It looks worse now than before most likely.

I am in Vero Beach Florida, if they bring it to me i will PC it for free.

I would ask for my money back, at least...

There is a mobile guy in Port St. Lucie who used to visit DC also, he might be a better solution if they are south.

"who's we" is it a rich parent's brat club for kids ? LOL , Did I said it was a good job give me a *&@!($& brake!

You basically said the owner of the car deserved rotary swirls because he only paid $100. Again I ask you, what if that is the price the hacker regularly charges? Maybe that is what he does for $100...a wash and machine one step. Are you suggesting that for that price a bad job is acceptable? There are many competent pros on this board who could do a quality one step on most cars in decent condition (and this car likely was) and there wouldn't be a rotary hologram anywhere. Sure, there might still be some spider swirls, light scratches, etc that won't come out with a one step job but the car would look noticably better, not worse.

whell, if the detailor is supported a familee by restoring a beater, he has to use a rotery and a prosedure. He can't do a god job for $100 casue the customer is two cheap 2 pay four anything. duh!!

Super...spellcheck PLEASE !! common sense PLEASE !!

You have made no sense(cents for you). This thread is about a bad detail job, no matter what the cost. You say he got what he paid for? evpcivicsi is correct...laughable.

give us a break (brake for you) will ya?

I can't believe we're still having this conversation. JBM - that's a heck of an offer, hopefully if they don't have someone else lined up they take you up on it. I'd love to see that cars paint fixed up and.

:xyxthumbs  :lol :chuckle: :bow :bigups :rofl :spit: :hifive: :D

Again did I say it was a good job? I did finsh a job like that once but that was what the costomer wanted he was going to finsh it him self by hand polishing. What I said was the detailer what used the rotery knew what he was doing I DID NOT SAY IT WAS A GOOD JOB that was finshed, good job with the rotery yes.

Who's knows what was said between the costomer and the detailer but I stuck up for the Detailer and give him/her the benefit of the doubt. Yea I know there is hackers doing half ^%$ jobs but the pic's are from a third party so I gave the Detailer the benefit of the doubt.

If you take a look at the pic its not all that bad all you have to do is polish it ether by hand or PC the rotery marks are real easy to remove I don't see why everyone is so upset for? I know you guys are VIRGO's LOL Virgos just bugs them so much on unfinsh things Virgos are Perfectionist, I was born in Aug too but I'm not as bad as you guys wow. By the way I been using the rotery now for 8 years

daes my spalling beg you oh no geiss i got to instell ms word so i can have spell chesh because I just reinstall my os LOL

This is about as simple as I can put it:

The detailers here at Autopia wether they are a pro or a hobbyist simply don't produce that type of work. That is just horrid, and to let a finish like that leave your shop or area of work is unprofessional and reflects on your image as a detailer. This has NOTHING to do with a cheap customer, it has to do with the quality of work. Someone could easily make that paint look presentable without hacking it up, plus throw in an interior spruce up and the customer would have definitely got what he paid for..... Not a swirled up job like that.

Me personally, if a customer has a pre-set limit on what they want to spend, I inform them of what they will get and what they will not get. In no way shape or form will they get a hack up job like that.

And yet you still can't spell "rotary" correctly.

Lee I agree w/u I love Detailing and I do a great job. Lets just put a end to this to meany misunderstoods or just not understanding what ever.

96 my sprlling os ok whets whroug with ot? does that bug the hech out of you lol

The point is, if the money isnt there to do a multi-step(procedure) polish, then you only do the least aggressive one for the money.

If someone only has 100k to build a house, you dont pour a foundation 150'x175' and leave the roof off because there wasnt enough money to shingle it lol.
