Not everything at Griot's is outrageously expensive...

You might have to be off your rocker to buy some ofhe tools and hardware, but IMO, the chemicals are right around what other "boutique" brands charge, and some are less. And, most people agree that the quality is there.

128 oz Speed Shine, $30; not a bad word about this product, and many say it's the best

128 oz WIndow Cleaner, $17; about average price. Most quality window cleaners are around $4 for 32 oz. (Of course you can mix your own, that's not for everyone though.)

16 oz 1, 2, and 3 polishes, aroud $13 each, about the same as Megs ($10) or Menzerna ($13).

8 oz 33% carnuba paste, $20, around the same as P21S. I'd like to try this, it's received mixed reviews... but I have enough "final" products to last a couple or three years.

16 oz leather care, $15; 128 oz interior cleaner $30. Lotsa raves for the leather conditioner. The price for the interior cleaner is about right for a consumer grade product.

There's more, as well. My point is, if you pick and choose through the catalogue, you can find some decent prices on some quality stuff.

You're absolutely right Tom, I seriously wonder why there's so much Griots bashing on this forum. Is it due to a bad experience or possibly unfamiliarity with the products?

I've used several of the items you've listed and IMO the Glass Cleaner and Leather conditioner perform better than anything else I've tried and the prices are reasonable. The other plus for Griots is the excellent packaging, their spray bottles are far superior to anything else I've ever used including the Home Depot Zep Bottles. Worth every penny!:xyxthumbs

I think it's because the tools and other non-car care items.

The car stuff alone is not overpriced. Well, that bucket....

Plus, there's no better reading material when you're on the can than his catalog.

I recently purchased one of their rolling stools to do the lower part of the car. I've seen the exact item for the exact same price in other catalogues. I do think their accessories are overpriced and I don't like the glass cleaner at all.

My step father got some Groits and I had to try it, I agree the leather conditioner and the Glass cleaner is top notch. My wife actuall asked me to get more of the window cleaner as she loved it(the 2 times she has helped wash her car). I also have used the clay, machine polish #3, and the wheel cleaner That stuff works great also!!! I am not real experienced as most of you guys but I am learning.

Conversly however, most of us can find comparable products that do the same job and are still somewhat cheaper. I guess I never had a thing against Griots until I first saw the "new revolutionary" buffer- AKA PC 7424 for so much, but any company that caters to car enthusiast that also carries magnetic bullet holes doesn't get my business.

Yup, like I said, the hardware is really high. But all the chemicals are within a buck or two of all the other stuff, with some being cheaper (Speed Shine is cheaper than Meg's QD, for example).

Not sayin' buy the stuff, just sayin' it's not as expensive as the reputation makes it out to be. For the chemicals, anyhow.

Griot's wet/dry vacuum hose and nozzles are the cat's meow! I have had mine for over 10 years now, and the hose is just starting to get a few small tears in it. No problem, as iIwill just shorten the hose by a foot to take care of that problem!

As for the "magnetic bullet holes"...

What do you call a company with no sense of humor that caters to the car enthusiast?

Zymol! :D
