Not At All Thankful

Ive heard of people using the family pet to dust the floor, so maybe she was thinking "floor...paint...allrighty then"

LOL thats what i thought.

She used a cat to rub the paint, and the poor fella tried to hang on.

at least its a BMW and probably has a good thick clear coat.

I say get the wife to pay for it with favors, the kind she would normally need to get some drinks in her to do, then make sure witchy poo knows not to even touch the car again.

and for Christmas get her a detailing kit the cheap ones.

WTH did she supposedly gently wipe it down with??

...it all start out with a sponge and water. Then it turns to scotch brite pad... what else are you going to use to get stubborn dirt off? LOL:doh

When my vehicles get serviced at the dealer, I put a sign on the driver's side window, another on the rearview mirror and tape a third one on the steering wheel.

They all read: PLEASE DO NOT WASH MY CAR

Why should I expect relatives or friends to behave differently than the "well meaning" guys in the service department? If I ever have to leave my car where others have access to it, I would post the same signs.

That photo is the front hood of my 2006 BMW 550i. It's Jet Black.

:nervous2: :soscared: :shocked

UGH. i actually laughed out loud when i saw the pic of the damage...and not out of thinking it was funny...just out of shock!!! that is terrible...but hopefully you can polish it out and get it back in shape. good luck!

OMG, I feel for you so much. I usually polish and wax my Mom's lexus es300. When she was here this weekend I gave her a MF and some QD because she was wiping her car with some tissues. I went for a walk and she decided to start to QD my BMW:grrr

I don't know how far she got, but she admitted to it and said she stopped because she realized I would freak out.:woot:

Good luck,

Steve

I think it's important that everyone in your life know that they are never, under any circumstances, even if it's rolling towards a baby panda, allowed to touch your car, ever.

Good luck.

OMG!!!!!!! *** did she use? A brillo pad?????? Now u are stuck trying to be the good son in law while deep down your anger boils..... Don't buy her an Xmas gift this year and tell her that the $$ was spent detailing the swirls she left in your paint....

:angry

ya thats a good way to get a divorce. She didnt do it on purpose, she was trying to be nice. I would be just as pissed as the next person, ubt you need to know when to pick your batles. Sorry it happended, but look on the bright side, it gives you a chance to practive paint correction

As a fellow owner of a Jet Black BMW I totally know how upset you must feel....that's my worst nightmare right there.

If it was anybody but family there would be hell to pay...with my in laws I have to put up with a lot of crap for my wife.

Take a deep breath and remember you have to be nice to her. Just let it slip to your wife how much work that will be and how much it would cost if you had to pay to get it fixed and I'm sure that info will work it's way to your mother in law.

Let us all know how you get that looking new again. Who knows, someone else may be in that sucky position one day.

AS I mentioned I had a feeling it was brillo marks. You may have to color sand the effected areas and than compound and polish the paint. regular polishing is not going to be enough to remove that deep of a scratch.

You may be able to check with your insurance company and put in a claim saying you were parked and this happened. Perhaps they will cover it ? just a though!!

I really feel bad for you.

Baby pandas? How about a field of stray cats? :LOLOL

Tachyon, at least this will allow one INCREDIBLE Click&Brag! You've allready got some great befores!!

ITS-NOT-THAT-BAD!

I know you must be thinking that I am f'n Nuts but upon close inspection, it seems as if you are a 3 step polish away from the car becoming perfect. I'm also surprised at the fact that most people in here are only 'Awwwing' at the fact and not giving many tips on how to correct the problem.

I would do the

Menzerna IP followed by FP and finished with ZPC..... using 3-4 coats of Z5p as an LSP....

it might be a days work but the above recipe should definately work well.
