Noob question. New to the PC.

If you can afford it skip the Intensive polish and get the Super Intensive Polish. IP dusts so badly and you get hardly any with IP. Wish you would have told me you needed polish I would have put some samples in for you but its already shipped!

Hope nobody minds me recycling this older thread...

I used my Porter-Cable for the first time today along with the German Durafoam double-side pad program that Adam Pitale (of Adam's Polishes) uses. Instead of a velcro backing plate, it uses a hex-shaped adapter which keeps that pad dead-centred on the PC.

In his PC Polishing video, Adam recommends setting the PC to 3,500 opm (oscillations per minute).

I found that at that speed (and the lower speeds as well), it looked and felt as if the pad was spinning, even though is it is supposed not supposed to do so. I was leaving a oscillation pattern behind (like Adam does in the video) but it was not as clean and even like Adam's. I did not notice much of a difference when I tried to apply a little more pressure. I was not able to "squish" the pad against the surface like Adam did in the video.

Could it be that new pads are rather firm and will soften over time or do I need more practice with the PC so that my hands become stronger?

I was mainly using the PC to polish the hood of my car as it is the only panel on my car that has been repainted and due to a substandard job (too late to complain about it now) it shows significantly more swirls and oxidation than the rest of the car. I was using Poorboys SSR1 and finished the rest of the hood by hand for now. I have SSR2.5 but do not want to use it with the PC until I am absolutely clear about what I am doing.
