noob question about swirl remover

gday all. my first post here, but ive been a long time lurker. i was wondering if #7 (i still have to look at the decoder ring to remember all these numbers) would be a good swirl remover? if not which product should i get? i have massive swirls on the trunk, hood, and top of my car.

#7 won’t remove swirls at all. It’s not meant to. It will make swirls a bit less visible but that’s not its purpose. It’s for use after all the swirls have been removed to give a deep luster.



To remove swirls you need a cutting polish like #9, #80, #83, etc. For “massive� swirls it may take the stronger ones like #83 or compounds like #84 or #85 by machine. (I mentioned Meg’s products here but the other companies have similar ranges of aggressiveness in their product lines.)

i dont have any pics of the swirls, but i just wanted to show you a pic of it.





oh and i have the meg colorx, does that help with the swirls?
 
I haven’t tried Poorboys but they’re quite well respected around here. I’m sure their products can do a fine job.



ColorX can remove minor swirls. Meg’s most aggressive “by-hand� product is ScratchX. I always try that first. If that’s not strong enough you’ll need to use a machine.

#80 works pretty well by hand if you have the time, and you can even use #83 and (the *new* version of) #2 if you are willing to work at it. Not my idea of fun though, but the #80 really isn't all that tough.
