So i've been doing a bit of reading on some car forum and i decided to start buying a kit to detail my car.

here's what I bought and what i thought was the right thing to do.

PC 7424

Mother's clay bar

Meguiar #2 fine cut,#1 medium cut,#7 show car glaze, gold glass wax.

Procedure that i read from other forum was to

Wash,clay,wash,cleaner,polish,quick detailer,polish,quick detailer,wax.

Now after I started reading this forum I realize I didnt buy the right product!! seems like you guys are saying meguiars #1 and #2 doesnt work well with the pc

and some1 told me the mothers clay bar isnt good too.

So for swirl and fine scratch remover which product would u guys suggest me?

and as for a polish which one would u guys think is the best?

Also I read that you're supposed to do a couple of layer of polish is that true and how many layer is good?

I just bought the PC7424 today and products...So if anything I think i might be able to return them

also which pad do you guys recommend with what

I got the white polishing ,black finishing and orange mild cut from lake country. Should I get the yellow medium cutting?

You don't "LAYER" polishes. They remove swirl marks so multiple passes would just remove more swirls/scratches and remove more clear coat. You do however can layer sealants, waxes for different looks. You have to let the first coat "CURE" atleast for a few hours or overnight.

Depending on the softness/hardness of the clear. And how bad your swirls/scratches are; you may be able to get away with using only an orange cutting pad or maybe even a white pad.

Clay is Clay. Just different type of abrasiveness. Just make sure you use a generous amount of Clay Lubricant so you don't put clay marks and/or micromar the clearcoat.

Different products work well for some and bad for others. Give them a run with the PC and see how you like them. A lot of things determine application and removal of polishes/waxes or basically anything you put on your car. "Less is More" You may not get the results you want in one pass. So you may have to to do more passes or upgrade to a more aggressive pad/polish combo.

:sadwavey: Goodbye bank account :doh

hehe thanks for the reply!!!

I think i used the wrong term for the more than one layer of polish......

Its this product called meguiar's #7 show car glaze

Its something u put after the polish and before the wax. How would you call that?

it supposedly bring out more depth and shine from the paint.

And Yea My bank account just lost a few hundred $ already :P but nothing better than having that shiny look on ur car !!!

After alot of reading i'm still not sure what products I need for swirl and scratch remover

then the glaze and wax. which one are easy to use,and easy to get. I dont mind repeating the step every month or so since i have alot of free time. I hear meguiars product give a nice shine but are not as durable. So if i decide to go with them should I get the #80 and #83 for polish than #7 and the #23?

and what about mezerna?? sonus?3M and all the other products?

As a general noob here myself, I found the reccomendation of Optimum Polish to work the best and is pretty forgiving.

What would be a bit helpful is to post some pictures of what you are trying to correct, or at least describe it. If you have major swirl marks, or marring...the products and technique will be a bit different than if there non/minor imperfections.

From the reccomendations of many other people here...and by searching for "noob" threads, OP seemed to come out for someone beginning out.

I used OP with AIO and a few coats of SG right now. Worked well for me, even though some people say OP and then AIO is silly...

Search around for other "noob" threads. You should worry less about product and more about technique. There will always be a bunch of companies trying to sell you something :-)

hehe Thanks well i've read alot about how to use it and all. I should be getting my PC next week so hopefully i can start and see.

As far as what I need to correct well I have a red car with clear coat. Some pretty bad swirl and some scratch. I'll try to post pic after i'm done with my finals this weekend.

What i want is to repair the paint and also give it that glossy wet look!!
