noob - interior care vs paint

Hi,

I've been reading through forum and noticed that alot of emphasis is put on preventing scratch on exterior paint. I can understand as this is most visible and reflective.

However, when caring for interior surfaces such as plastic and rubber I notice that not much attention to prevent scratching is focused here ... can't these surfaces also scratch? perhaps they do but it doesn't matter much because they don't reflect, i.e. are very matte surface.

in particular, rubber is cleaned with quite aggresive brushes, can rubber show scratch/fading marks from aggresive cleaning?

Any painted surface can show fading from aggressive cleaning, including painted moldings, trim, a dash, vinyl and leather seats. I don't know if black rubber really shows anything, but some cheaper dressings can dye it an ugly colour.

Thanks!

Still trying to understand if plastics can scratch as easily as painted surfaces, it seems that most are more durable, except very shiny smooth ones?

Textured plastics will probably be a little more resilient towards scratching than paint will be. I treat all smooth plastic surfaces with the same amount of care as I do with paint. If you have any doubt that something might scratch, just take care and try not to be too aggressive with it.
