Noob Experience on New Paint

What a great site!!! I've never been into detailing until I sent my integra in for new paint last month and it came out sweet!!! Ferrari Red (PPG) w/ a Gold Pearl (HOK)!!! :bounce

While I'm waiting for the the paint to cure I'm just washing using my newly learned technique and keeping the wheels kleeen. I'm now using mother's ca gold wash (which is OK imo, gonna try NXT), a pinnacle wash mitt and waffle weaves to dry instead of Palmolive, those horrible yellow sponges and old bathroom towels :nono .

I have also done a THOROUGH interior detail and lite engine detail (Gunk and Simple Green)

In the meantime I've made several purchases which look like this:

Polishing:

Porter Cable 7336

Sonus Pads

4* SMR

Megs #9 SR 2.0

Megs #83 DACP

Klasse AIO

Glaze/Sealant/Wax:

Klasse SG

Megs #7

4* UPP

P21S

Clay:

Mother's Clay Bar

QD:

Mother's

4* Gloss Enhancer

Other:

Plexus

303

Rain-X wipes

MF towels

I decided to go the Klasse route, seemed like a good place to start (possibly Wolfgangs and Pinnacle in the future)

Spent 8+ hours detailing this weekend and it was GRRREAT.

I officially have caught the detailing BUG. I knew it when I used the left over Simple Green solution to clean my Shop Vac and 303 to make it shine.

Can't wait for the paint to cure and its on to PC action and AIO/SG/P21S bling!!! In the meantime, experiment on Dad's BMW and friend's cars (so when its time to do mine I can do it RIGHT)

Hopefully this post brings all you seasoned vets back to when you caught the bug....

Stay Tuned for post-polishing pics, detailing fiascos and a bunch of newbie questions.

Q: How should I deal with overspray which is on the metal under the windshield and on the rear windshield and windshield wiper?

I tried vinegar and steel wool to no avail. Maybe clay? Is clay good for windows? I didn't try it yet because I wouldn't want to waste my clay on it if it didn't work....

Is clay good for windows?

Yes it will remove over-spray from glass

All detailing clayâ€â„¢s contain an abrasive; the differences between the types of detailing clayâ€â„¢s are the abrasive levels. Some manufacturers distinguish the differing levels by colour (i.e. Clay Magic Red is a medium abrasive, whereas the Blue is a Fine abrasive.

a)Fine- clay that pulls or shears off the imbedded paint contamination and encapsulates it.

b) Medium- clay is used to remove paint over-spray; it contains an abrasive that abrades, while the clay encapsulates it.
