Non-clear coated surfaces.

I'm new to the detailing world.



My buddy has a 95(?) 3000gt and he wants me to clean it for him.

However, I asked if it was clear coated and he said no.



What's the difference between the two surfaces as far as detailing goes. No polish/wax/etc. I searched but really didn't find much to answer my quick question...

Treated the same pretty much. You'll see the color of the car bleed onto your pads, though. Don't be scared that's normal.

Yeah, other than staining your pads it won't make much difference.



Other than white (which is usually very hard), most single stage (non-clearcoated) paints are pretty soft. Then tend to oxidize more readily than clearcoats.



Some *really* respond well to the "trade secret oils" in Meguiar's products.

Thanks for the welcome haha! That's good info for me, I'm new to this whole realm so any sort of information I can gather is great. I've been researching for the past week for hours trying to learn as much as possible before I can mess anything up and to get the best possible outcome. This was one thing I couldn't find an answer on. thanks! Are you saying to use Meguiar's or refrain from using it because of bleeding?

I'm glad there's reinforcement, makes me feel secure haha. Right now I just have pictures of my Maxima, however I should have pics of his 3000gt sometime mid next week after I get back from Florida. I'll put up some before and afters, so I can get some feedback on the job haha.

Are you saying to use Meguiar's or refrain from using it?

Use it. Some medium-strength polish like the #80 Speed Glaze might be just the right product. Stronger choices would be something like #83, but I wouldn't go *milder* as stuff like #9 and #82 just don't do much of anything (and #3/#5/#7/#81 are functionally nonabrasive).
